IN THIS PAINTING HE ABANDONS HIS NORMAL DEPICTIONS OF DOLLS, TEDDY BEARS, BOARDING PAPERED WALLS ECT FOR GOLF! WHEN WE RECEIVED THIS PAINTING IT WAS FROM THE SALE OF A POLO CLUB LIQUIDATION I WAS AMAZED AS I KNOW THIS SIGNATURE WHEN I SEE IT AS I HAVE FOUR OF HIS NORMAL PAINTINGS MYSELF. BUT WHAT STRUCK ME AS ODD WAS NUMBER ONE GOLF BEING THE SUBJECT NUMBER TWO THE REALISTIC DEPICTIONS OF MUCH OF WORLD GOLF HISTORY. HE PAINTED THE ADVERTISEMENTS SO PERFECTLY THAT LOOKING AT THEM YOU WOULD THINK THEY WERE PRINTED STICKERS. HUNTINGTON REALLY SHOWS OFF HIS SKILL IN THIS PAINTING. THERE IS WAY TO MUCH HISTORY TO NAME BUT CAN BE ROUNDED UP TO ANTIQUE GOLF MASTERS ALONG WITH TOP ANTIQUE GOLF BUSINESS. JUST MIND BLOWING THE INFORMATION PROVIDED, HE PAINTED THE EXACT ADVERTISEMENTS FOR THAT DAY AND AGE. LOOKING AT NOT ONLY THE DETAIL ONE MUST NOTICE THE STYLE HE NOT ONLY PAINTED IN HIS NORMAL FLAT AND SHARP TONES BUT ADDED A BLOTCHY TEXTURE TO THE CANVAS THAT REALLY GIVES IT THE STONE WALL EFFECT. HE MUST HAVE BEEN KEEPING IN MIND WHERE THIS WAS GOING AND KNEW IT WOULD FIT THE TONE OF THE WALLS OR INTERIOR TO A PERFECTION. I HAVE TOOK PICTURES TO SHOW YOU THE SWIRLS AND PURPOSE TEXTURE ORIGINALLY ADDED BY HUNTINGTON. LOOKING AT THE MAIN PICTURE ONE MAY THINK THERE IS A CUT IN THE CANVAS UP TOP IN THE ONE ADVERTISEMENT BUT REFERRING TO THE CLOSES UP WOULD SEE THIS IS NOT DAMAGE THESE SWIRLS AND BLOTCHES APPEAR THROUGHOUT AND OFFER A SURREAL TOUCH TO THE PAINTING. THERE IS A FEW LIGHT SCRATCHES DEPICTED IN PHOTOS AND AS YOU CAN SEE THEY ARE SURFACE PAINT SCRATCHES. MEANING THESE SCRATCHES DID NOT GO THROUGH THE CANVAS IN ANY WAY. WITH A LITTLE TOUCH UP THEY WILL NOT BE NOTICEABLE THESE LIGHT AND FEW SCRATCHES ARE MAILY LOWER AREA OF THE PAINTING REFER TO PIC’S. HANGING ON THE WALL THESE LIGHT SCRATCHES WOULD NOT EVEN BE NOTICEABLE TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH EITHER WAY VERY WORTHY OF BEING PAMPERED, FOR YOURSELF AS A GOLFER OR FAN OF GOLF. I LOVE THE CHICAGO ADVERTISEMENT 1924 LOWER BOTTOM STATING AT TIME THE ISSUE COSTED 25 CENTS WOW WELL THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE LOL. THE EXACT MEASUREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS W- 29.25 x H- 35.25 (FRAMED) SPEAKING OF THE FRAME IT IS IN OVERALL GOOD CONDITION. This Extremely Rare Piece of Respected Black Americana History. Came from an Estate Find Years Ago. This Hand Painted and Hand Crafted Piece is Over a Hundred Years Old. Just the Paint, and Patina would Qualify that. It Represents a Funner Time of History, and by NO Means is it a Racial Representation, and Never Be Considered So. IT IS A PIECE OF ART, and Should be Displayed with Pride. Yes the Character is a Little Not to Scale, but was Made in the Era where Black History, as well as Any other Race was a Bit Cartoon-ish. The Gentleman is Well Dressed, and Could have Possibly been a Servant, or a Wealthy Land Owner. Has Crackling in the Paint, with Scuffs, and Chips. It has a Piece of Steel Mounted to the Base, as it was used as a Paperweight. And Measures 12″ H, and 6″ W, 1/4 wide. That Told me I had a Valuable Piece. Vintage carnival game wheel. Hand painted and made of wood and what appears to be an old bicycle rim & spokes. Numbers 1 through 40 (so you don’t have to count). Looks like one of a kind not made in mass production, therefore the term “primitive”. Rare (I use this term in my items because it is so overused, although in this case it may apply). Some paint has chipped off, see images. Authentic, real deal, not a reproduction. Appears to be signed “St Marys”; I don’t think St. Mary made it, but who knows. Outside diameter of wheel is just over 30. Ask any questions you have.
