Antique early 20th century, c1910s, original oil painting. Depicts a well done forest landscape scene complete with trees, foliage, birds and river running through. Very well done with great detail and pleasing brushstrokes. Good use of color and good capture of light and depth. Medium is oil on canvas done in a Folk Art/Impressionist style. Signed/monogrammed in the bottom right corner MAE ; quite worthy of further research. Housed in antique black painted molded wood frame and ready to hang. In Good overall condition. Exhibits gentle soiling, scuffing and toning consistent with age. No holes, rips or tears. Measures 16 1/4 x 10 3/4 and 18 x 12 1/2 with the frame. You are viewing an antique oil on canvas of a summer landscape of haystacks, an open field with a maiden tending to a flock of geese. No holes or tears. Two older professional repairs on group of tree’s foliage (see last photo), otherwise the canvas is in good condition. Framed in a gilded wood ornate frame measuring 20 inches in height and 24 inches in width. Some professional restoration to one side of the inner frame. Canvas alone is 16″ X 20″. Antique 19th Century New England Winter Landscape Folk Art Oil Painting Signed

Antique 19th century, c1850s, original New England folk art oil painting. Depicts a winter landscape scene complete with a large house on a lake. The lake is surrounded by detailed trees and foliage; another house can be seen further down with trees disappearing into the horizon. Above the scene a dark sky can be noted with ominous clouds rolling through. Very well done with super detail, especially in the trees and plants. Boasts great capture of light, depth and shadow. Medium is oil on canvas done in a Folk Art style. Canvas affixed to early stretcher bars with antique nails. Signed by the artist in the bottom right corner. Looks to read O. Battis ; worthy of further research. Has a great patina with lots of age toning and cracking to the paint which is typical of a piece with this much age. In my opinion the toning and cracking add to the character of the piece and enhance it by acting as a testament to its age and authenticity. Two small puncture holes along the right side but not noticeable until a closer inspection is done (see photo 8). Small knick to center of the painting. Eye catching and appealing.
