OFFERED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS A GENUINE ANTIQUE 18TH OR 19TH CENTURY MEXICAN SCHOOL HAND PAINTED OIL ON CANVAS. THE PAINTING SCENE DEPICTS CHRIST, POSTHUMOUS TO THE CRUCIFIXION, SITTING IN THE CLOUDS ON TOP OF THE WORLD ABOVE TWO SOULS (ONE MALE AND ONE FEMALE)THE SACRED HEART OF CHRIST IS EXPOSED AND RADIATES A BRIGHT LIGHT AROUND HIM. THERE IS A CHERUB IN EACH OF THE UPPER CORNERS WHICH BALANCES THE PAINTING BEAUTIFULLY. THERE IS INFORMATION WRITTED TO THE VERSO OF THE CANVAS STARTING AT THE TOP WITH THE NAME ” MERCEDES/Z PARADEZ BELOW THAT THE WORD “MORENO AND THEN WHAT SEEMS TO BE A DEDICATION IN SPANISH. IT MAY BE THAT THE ARTISTS NAME WAS MERCEDEZ PAREDEZ. UNFORTUNATELY MY RESEARCH TOOLS ARE LIMITED FOR THIS TYPE OF ARTWORK AND IT IS HARD TO SAY WITHOUT FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THIS ARTWORK DOES BEAR SOME STYLISTIC SIMILARITIES TO WORKS BY FAMOUS MEXICAN ARTIST JOSE DE PAEZ BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE THERE IS ANY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THIS PAINTING AND THE ABOVE ARTIST. CONDITION: THIS PAINTING REMAINS IN AND STABLE CONDITION FOR IT’S AGE. THERE ARE TWO PATCHES ON THE BACK OF THE CANVAS AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF IN-PAINT IN THE AREA OF THE FEMALE SOUL. THE CANVAS IS EXTREMELY THIN , ALMOST PAPER-LIKE SO THIS PRECIOUS WORK MUST BE HANDLED WITH EXTREME CARE. MEASUREMENTS: BOTH – 36.5 CM HIGH X 29.5 CM WIDE (APPROX 14.4″ X 11.6″). PLEASE SEE MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR INTERSTING ITEMS. The item “ANTIQUE 18TH/19C MEXICAN JOSE DE PAEZ FOLLOWER OIL FOLK ART FRAMED SIGNED VERSO” is in sale since Thursday, September 25, 2014.
