Gorgeous Folk Art 1950’s Silk Ribbon Doll Picture Under Glass, Antique Frame

Get Vendio Gallery – Now FREE! This wonderful ribbon doll picture was a craft project, folk art piece created in the 1950’s from a DOL-LEE pattern. I have an original Dol-Lee pattern for sale in another listing, if you want to see what the pattern looks like! The pattern includes a heavy card stock silhouette doll and instructions for dress her in ribbon and lace. Of course, the finish products varied by maker – some, like this one, beautifully enhanced the instructions and pattern. This one is really gorgeous, done in pale green, cream and pink silk ribbon on a pale cream background. It is framed in a wonderful solid wood antique frame from the early 1900’s that really complements the antique style dress the little doll is wearing. The frame has a slight dent in the gold trim, visible in the photos, and some surface scratches and light wear. The biggest flaw is the way the picture is held into the frame; there is a plain cardboard back that is held with clear tape. It really needs to be more tightly secured with some frame tacks. Not a big deal, just want to mention it. It looks fine, and hangs fine on the wall even as it is! It is really beautiful, and would be great just about anywhere you want to put her! This is a very old Tramp art picture frame done in the crown of thorns style. It is very intricate and beautifully created using only wood that has been carved to fit tightly using no glue or nails. The picture that is included is an old post card that is from Jun 21st 1910 and was mailed from Huntington PA. It does have some damage but can be repaired by a craftsman. RARE Antique Primitive Early American Folk Tramp Art Heart Wood Picture Frame

Very unusual and rare piece of Early American history! This tramp art frame is a great piece of folk art, with wooden hearts on each corner and splayed wooden pieces coming out from each side of the frame, each one hand carved. It is pretty deep, so it could have originally been used as a shadow box for a mourning wreath or something else. Hangs horizontally, but could be changed to hang vertically. Measurements: 17″ tall x 20″ wide x 2 deep. Inside of frame: 9.5″ x 6.5″. Condition: In as found condition. Will need a back, wire, and glass for framing. Also, missing half of one of the hearts. One of the pieces on the sides moves and it may be missing a decorative piece on the side, hard to tell. For its age, it is actually in pretty decent shape. Features wood cut letters of the German word’Erinnerung’ at top, meaning memory, and the date 1904 at bottom. Shallowest portion of frame has a reddish brown fabric accent. Offering this beautiful vintage William Spratling tin frame. It has a dramatically fluted design with leaf details at each corner. The tab on the hanger has Spratling’s stylized maker’s mark and Mexico. There is the usual age-related patina to the tin and some rust where the leaf sections are soldered on but this piece is otherwise very nice with no breaks, losses or repairs. Beautiful and rustic, we have a charming original primitive folk art picture or mirror frame with birch bark and twig accents throughout. Although we have obvious age and patina, this example is in fine condition with great integrity. We note some of the tiny little nails on the back side were never completely hammered down to the wood level… We will leave the decision to you to complete that task. It does not harm use, display or hanging. Solid wire assembly is in place, however, you could also remove and replace to change the direction of the piece for hanging should you choose to do so. Great original piece for cabin or rustic setting or decor! Exterior measures in at 14 & 1/2″ x 13″ with an interior back opening of 9″ x 7 & 1/2″.
