Many times it was a baby dressed in real lace in a real blanket. Sometimes real hair was used, along with all sorts of lace and ribbon. This picture features a really charming little girl, dressed in a gorgeous dress made from feed sack material, embellished with ribbon and lace. She has a new back – a dark gold mat. She is under glass in a wood frame that has darkened with age. The picture is in excellent condition – bright and clean, with no damage. It has wonderful patina – the aged look that items get over time. The picture measures 8 1/2″ by 10 3/4″ edge to edge, with the picture measuring 8″ by 10″. Her face has been both drawn and painted on. Her hair is painted swirls. She has rosy cheeks, pink lips and the corners of her eyes have been colored pink, along with her nostrils. Her irises are a pale blue/grey. She has thick black lashes and a tiny dimple in her chin. Her head is big and round from the front, and somewhat flat from the sides (known as a’lollipop’ head doll). She has chubby hands with little nubby fingers. All her clothing has been sewn on, including her bonnet. She has a navy blue calico dress, and linen bloomers. Her shoes are oil cloth. She is quite solid and filled with straw (which you can see through her muslin body). The doll is jointed at the shoulders and hips and can sit. This doll has it all! A great folky, primitive look and a lovely addition to your collection! Condition: This doll is in very good condition for her age. Her socks have faded, there’s a small hole in the back of her bonnet and her bloomers are slightly dirty and have yellowed over the years. There are no holes in the doll. Add me to your favorites! This toy measures 14 3/4″ long x 10″ deep x 11 1/2 tall. Above the door is stenciled ” LITTLE FOLKS AT HOME”. I believe this toy dates to around 1880. The glass in the windows are replacements. The paint is all original. I believe the photographs give an accurate read as to the condition of this extremely rare toy. I’m not certain that this is a George Brown piece…. I Love this toy…. AAFA ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART RED PAINTED CHILD’S / DOLL’S TABLE / DESK & CHAIR SET. Up for sale is this wonderful little table and chair. It’s a small child’s table and it’s absolutely adorable. It has a little turned legs on the table with a small drawer in the side of the table. On top it has a little yellow border around the top of the table. The little yellow border is also on the chair seat. The chair is a cute little child’s chair with an open back with three vertical pieces of wood and an arched frame. This could be used for homework, school work, a desk or just decoration! It’s so cute!! The table measures 21. ” W x 15″ D x 18 H. We don’t know the age of this item but it looks early 20th century to us. There are nicks, scrapes, small cracks, dings and worn paint as you can see in the pictures but nothing you wouldn’t expect from an item of this age. There is a crack in the top as you can see in the pictures. There are round nails visible in the corners of the yellow border on the top of the table / desk.
