Vtg. Ernest Hertig, Blackwater Falls, WV Wood-Framed Oil on Board, Big 35x17

This is a wonderful and very large landscape oil painting on board by the great Highwayman artist, Ernest Hertig of West Virginia. The subject here was clearly one of his favorites that was featured in his work – the water falls at Blackwater State Park where he maintained his studio. Although we do not know for sure, we strongly believe the frame is the original framing of the painting – you can see in our pics how it is constructed. The wooden frame has little metal tabs that hold in place the painted board, and then the back was papered over. As noted, the painting is a very large one, which was somewhat unusual for Mr. The total length of the frame is 40 inches, with the painted board occupying 35 of those inches. The frame is 21 and 1/4 inches high, with the painted board occupying 17 of those inches. Just a wonderful piece of vintage Appalachian art from the mid-1900s.

Original Folk Art Oil on Artist’s Board Painting by Dolores Hackenberger. Dolores Hackenberger was an American listed artist who painted in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Painting shows a farm house, barn, out building & two silos. Painting measures 14-1/4″ across x 5-1/2″ high & frame measures 17-1/4″ across x 9-1/8″ high. The painting is in good condition & signed in the middle right of the painting. The frame is the original mitered wood which shows the expected age & use wear. Please view the pictures.

This painting is 29.5″ x 20″. It almost looks like a poster but with close inspection brush strokes are present and it appears some of the straight lines were done with a pencil/pen as you can see a slight indent. Parts also appear to be spray paint. Considered a painting with parts in mixed media. Minor storage wear in parts, most noticeable by signature, please examine pictures closely.

This is a nice vintage 1969 HMA Feldmeier signed folk art painting on board titled Early Spring depicting a farm landscape. In pretty nice shape as the pics show with some imperfections including a loss to the corner of the board and it comes exactly as shown. It measures 15 1/4″ x 12″.

Antique 19th Century Folk Art Oil Painting on Board Gathering Nuts or Fruit off a Tree. The vintage 19 th century painting on board measures 12″ x 18″ in a 18″ x 24″ old gold frame. The painting is of people under a tree harvesting fruit or nuts as another person is in the tree with a stick knocking the fruit or nuts out of the tree (see photo). The people on the ground are dress in 19 th century clothing. The painting is on board and is in good condition and is not signed by the artist. The frame has some gold loss (see photo).

Original oil painting on wood board by American folk artist Mary Ann Vessey. Is an interpretation of. The Genesis flood narrative through which God spares Noah, his family, and the animals from a world-engulfing flood. Signed MAVessey on the bottom right hand corner. The board measures 25 1/2″ x 21 1/4 “. In very good condition with some light paint scuffing to the wood. The wood has some natural irregularities. Mary Ann Vessey is a folk artist in Staunton Virginia. She paints rural landscapes and local Virginia and East Coast scenes. She is self taught artist. She began painting in the early 1980’s while she was at home caring for her children. She painted with acrylics in the beginning and occasionally with pastels, but now she uses oils most of the time.
