Antique Primitive American Folk Art Arabian Horse Ranch Painted Wood Sign 40s

This is a fabulous and rustic Antique Old Primitive American Folk Art Arabian Horse Ranch Painted Wood Sign, promoting the Lazy L Ranch that once resided in Artesia now part of Norwalk, California. This sign approximately dates to the 1940’s – 1950’s and advertises Arabians at Stud. ” The names of the studding horses are Azeke, and “San Benito, ” and the sign reads: “Horses Boarded. ” Additionally, someone has written “NO TRESPASSING at the top edge of the sign. Each side of this sign features the painted profile of an Arabian stallion. The address for this location reads 16708 Shoemaker, Artesia. This address is now under the borders of Norwalk, a neighboring city. The only information I could find on this ranch comes from two issues of the Long Beach Press Telegram from 1952 and 1953, which have been digitized online. Approximately 32 1/2 x 47 inches. Good condition for half a decade of outside use and weathering, with expected paint loss, paint flaking, edge wear, and some loosening and wood splitting to the original frame please see photos. Frame; very wavy glass with striations, air bubbles and a lot of character. Men fishing in a boat on a stream. Pastel is in excellent condition, no damage noted and the colors are rich as if they were just painted. Frame measurements are 26″ wide, 20 1/2″ tall and is 1 1/2 thick. Original lemon gilt finish, notation of small amount of minor losses to gesso overlay. Reframed into its original frame with new backing. Provenance: Salem, NJ collection, the previous owner was active in the towns historical society. 2x Antique 19th Century Middle Eastern painting on bone. These exquisitely painted miniatures are truly breathtaking. Set of two paintings. Believed to be acrylic on bone. Signed, but I cannot read writing. It may be Arabic or Farsi. Each painting is framed in a wooden frame with golden yellow tones that matches nicely. Frames have a small decorative hook on the top and hanging hardware on the back. The paintings are about 4.5″ x 7.5″, frames measure about 6″ x 9.25″. The first scene depicts a hunt. Horses and men chasing deer elk? In a wooded rocky area with ornate houses in the background. Although yellowed, it appears to be in excellent condition considering it’s presumed age of late 19th century. The second painting depicts a more communal scene of people tending animals sheep? , while others ride horses, sit inside tents, drink wine, and watch lambs and dogs. This painting is not in perfect condition, and shows some areas that have flaked off from the original painting. Although imperfect, the painting is still exquisitely done and wonderful to view. Antique Dead Woodcock Game Bird Hunting Still Life Pastel Painting Trompe L’oeil

A beautiful 19th century hanging game bird or woodcook painting, appears to be possibly pastel on board from what I can discern. It is in a handmade period wooden frame measuring 9″ x 22″, the image is approx. The painting itself is in good condition, with strong color still. The frame itself must have gotten wet at some point, and the laminate is separating around the edges. There is also some chipping to the wood in the front. The gesso gold painted trims around the glass on the front do have some slight cracking in spots. The glass is original and seedy, there appears to be a scratch on the left hand margin.
