This is a delightful antique portrait of a child with a cat. Painting measures 30″ x 25″ and is displayed in a molded gilt wood and gesso frame measuring 38 1/4″ x 32 1/4″. Condition: Relined, retouches throughout, and craquelure. Some paint loss to canvas, upper left. Frame shows some wear to the gesso around the edges and to the outside of the frame. Antique Vtg 19th C 1890s Folk Art Hand Carved Figure Articulated Original Paint

This offering is for a hand carved folk art figure of a man with articulated arms. The carving is is free standing and measures app. 5.75 in height. The figure is depicted wearing a cutaway coat and straw boater style hat, typical of the 1890’s. The carving has very nice high relief definition with a folky styling, great carved facial expression. The condition is as seen in our photo’s both above and below. The index finger of his right hand has a chip on the top of it and both of his feet are missing the front third or so, however, he still stands easily. The paint is pretty close to 99% and the surface has a wonderful patina. If additional photo’s are needed or you have need of answers to questions we do not address we will be happy to supply them. Up for sale is this nicely-preserved hand-painted document or storage box from the mid-19th century. Made from pine with iron cut nails and cast iron hinges. Dimensions – 14-1/4″ long x 9-5/8″ wide x 8-1/2 tall. This exterior of the box exhibits beautiful green floral motifs and patterns. The inside of the box appears to have been “papered” with various types of wallpaper – most of which is now missing. 19th c. Antique M. Peaslee American Folk Art Painted Leather Fire Bucket

Nice mid 19th century leather fire bucket with early paint and lots of character the name M. Peaslee painted in gold on bucket , which means this was a bucket that a home owner would have in their home as their civil duty to be part of the “bucket brigade” someone in the town would signal the home owners and everyone would help try to put out ones fire , was typical to have your name painted on your bucket so when you were done you could get your bucket back. I had this looked at by a serious collector for their opinion was told Circa 1840’s-1860’s Origin more then likely Philadelphia by the shape and size and way it was made. Condition : paint is original, a lot of surface cracks on leather and in paint , on one side the hoop that attaches the handle to the bucket has split over the years so only one side of the handle is attached, can be fixed if wanted to by a leather worker , there is a crack on the front of bucket and has been repaired in the same time period this was made please look at all pictures. Antique 19th C PA Wooden PAINTED Folk Art BIBLE Document Valuables BOX CHEST. Antique 19th C PA Wooden PAINTED Folk Art BIBLE Document Valuables BOX CHEST- Dated 1848 – An antique wooden valuables or document box. It is made of PA wood and is heavy in weight and has very nicely crafted details- this is a box that was made by a country craftsman. There is some wear to the painted surface as expected and it has a nice history of age and good painted surface or patina. It is difficult to describe the color of the paint. It is a grayish greenish hue but looks different in different light. The color you see in person may be different than the one you see in the photos as photography does not always show the exact hue. It has a nice painted surface any way you look at though. It is dated 1848 on the bottom of the box (see 2nd and 6th photo). It has remnants of the original leather handles and nails on the sides of the box- we left as found. The lock inside is a very old replacement and there are handmade wire cotter pin type hinges (see 11th photo) and there is a molding on the back that was attached to support the lid as it is opened (see 8th photo). It is made with Square Nails. It is a wonderful box. It measures approx 7 12/16″ wide X 13.5″ long and approx 6.75 tall. View my other auctions for additional fine period items.
