Coolidge and John Coolidge, also with impressed notary stamp’Cassius M. 42nd Street, New York’. Measures 6.75″ x 2.75″ inches. Aside from being well know for his’dogs playing poker’ paintings, Coolidge was also credited to be the inventor of comic foregrounds, the photographic boards often seen at fairs where you stick your head through a hole that has a caricaturized body. This was patented under his’Kash Del’ moniker. The tintype shown does come from the Coolidge estate and will offered for sale at another date. ABOUT THE CASSIUS COOLIDGE COLLECTION. Examples addressed to Brown and Bigelow concerning the liquidation of his’Dogs Playing Poker’ series, and far more to mention. How the contents ended up in a storage unit is a mystery, but the only likely explanation is that Mr. Coolidge’s personal effects were handed down to a friend or relative after the death of Gertrude’Marcella’ Coolidge, Cassius’s daughter (2007) in San Diego; thereafter left behind in an unpaid storage unit. Throughout the course of her life, historians were aware of these personal effects, but Marcella remained ambivalent to ever share them publicly – only offering a biographical account that she wrote herself in a few paragraphs. She cited that she did not take her father seriously as an artist. The items in this listing and others similar are guaranteed to be authentic.
