HOWARD FINSTER – “GEORGE WASHINGTON AT 23″ (1989) – ORIGINAL AMERICAN FOLK ART. Wood cutout panel nailed to wooden base. Painting approximately 9.5 tall. Base measures approximately 6.75″ x 3.5″. Description : An antique or vintage Stoneware Butter Crock with later painted decoration by 20thC. American Folk Artist, Warner C. The Butter Crock : Molded cylindrical form with slightly raised band at rim. Approximate 2.5 Quart capacity. This would be considered a 5# Butter Crock. WREDE on the base. The photos are probably the best description. Background : WC (Warner) Wrede partnered with Peter Ompir in the 1950s and the pair worked together to paint a wide variety of everyday objects. Antique Tramp Folk Art wood Picture Frame Crown of Thorns
This is a very old Tramp art picture frame done in the crown of thorns style. It is very intricate and beautifully created using only wood that has been carved to fit tightly using no glue or nails. The picture that is included is an old post card that is from Jun 21st 1910 and was mailed from Huntington PA. It does have some damage but can be repaired by a craftsman. Old Antique Vtg 1950s Hand Made Folk Art Carved Wooden Doll Original Paint Nice
This offering is for a vintage ca 1940’s to 50’s hand made folk art wooden doll figure. The young lady stands app. 17 tall and has metal post on the bottoms of her feet to put her on a stand, there is no stand. There are no makers markings. The head and torso were carved from one piece of wood, the wooden arms are jointed at the shoulders with wire and the wooden legs are attached with wire as well. She wears what appears to be her original clothing and hat, she has a purse over her arm. The workmanship is excellent and the condition is wonderful. There is minor soiling to her clothing and wear to her hat. The tip of one foot is missing. Otherwise there are no breaks or cracks and she displays beautifully. Antique c1870’s Folk Art O/B Painting of Country Farm & Stacks of Hay
This is a lovely c. 1870’s Folk Art oil on artist board of an antique farmhouse & barn surrounded by fields, woods & a mountain probably located in the Northeast – this clearly a fall scene as the trees near the farmhouse are showing their fall orange, red, & brown fall colors – also, to the left of the farmhouse is a field stacked with harvested hay – one also sees smoke pouring from the single stack chimney on the roof of the farmhouse – the painting was done in an impressionistic/Folk Art style, but, was capably rendered – the painting is in very good condition considering its age; & probably was professionally cleaned in the recent past – what makes this piece of antique artwork stand out is the incredible ornate gilded gesso on wood frame that surrounds the painting – it is really of a “frame within a frame” construction, & is in remarkable condition for its antique c. 1870’s age – the frame appears to have its original gilded paint on its surface & does not seem to have any gesso missing from the wooden framework – it really creates an interesting juxtaposition between the relative simplicity of the painting in relationship to the elaborateness of the gilded frame – the oil on board painting measures 14″ x 9″ sight size; & the gilded frame measures 23″ x 17″ – for its size, the painting & frame are quite heavy suggesting a very strong & thick hardwood base for the frame – the multiple layers of gesso also add to the weight of the artwork – the painting will be packed with a sturdy piece of cardboard over the front of the frame affixed with large rubber bands to protect the front of the frame & the painted surface of the artist board. Aafa Antique Folk Art Pie Safe Cabinet Cupboard Original Robins Egg Blue Paint
AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART PIE SAFE CABINET CUPBOARD ORIGINAL ROBINS EGG BLUE PAINT. Up for sale is this fabulous old primitive cabinet or cupboard. It’s a nice old pie safe with doors down below, a drawer and an open cabinet above. On the sides it has nice tins that appear to be original to the cabinet. We don’t know how old it is, but it looks early 1800’s to us! The cabinet has beautiful dry chippy robin’s egg blue paint. This old cabinet is a survivor. There may have been doors on the top part at one point. Along the front there are rounded slotted screws with blue paint on them at a few points. The back is made from slats as you can see in the pictures. Along the sides of the back there are some tiny bright nails. The cabinet doors are a Shaker style doors and hinges. The drawer is dovetailed as you can see in the picture. The bottom and side skirts have a nice scrolled look to them, almost a whaletail but not quite. The top has wooden dowels in it as you can see in the picture. The doors work nicely and there’s a little wooden thumbturn to hold the right door shut and a wooden knob to open it. The hinges are old Shaker style pin hinges. It’s a wonderful dry wood and is a light blue in color with old worn paint. The paint appears to be all original on the front sides. Scrapes, patina, fading, and is dry, worn, rubbed, scraped, chipped, flaked, nicked, edge-worn. There’s white, cream and wood colors showing through the blue. The inside looks all original with great patina too! There’s an old mouse hole on the back with a lead / tin repair over it as you can see in the pictures. This is everything you’d expect to see from an old survivor cabinet like this! What a great look! We don’t know the age or origin of this cabinet but we do know that it’s special! Please see photos for accurate detail and description. The pictures are pretty good for the color, especially the close-up ones. It’s a great old cabinet/cupboard!! The cabinet measures 72″ H x 39.5″ W x 17.5 D. We can also recommend a couple of shippers. This is a great cabinet! We regularly put up new items so check out our other items!
