Measuring 11 1/2″ long by 6 1/4″ tall and 7 wide, this mid 19th century Yellow Pine Miniature Chest is accented with wonderful hand-painted Folk Art decorations. The cover has the original owner’s initials N. And on the front, just below the key escutcheon, is a bird with large seashells on the sides. The outside edges and corners of this folk art painted box do have some wear and knicks, but when you open it up you see that the inside lining is still bright and vibrant. On the inside of the cover is a hand-colored print of King Charles the Second and the rest of the box is lined with vibrant stenciled wallpaper. The locking mechanism and hinges are original and along with this box comes the original key which still works! WE TRY TO DESCRIBE THE ACTUAL COLORS TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY. An 1800s period oil painting on tin. Spanish Colonial, depicting a Saint. This one is very well executed, and shows a Saint with wings as well as a heavenly cloud to the upper right. Below at his feet are micro painted scenes of life. No signature is found. The painting is “untouched”, meaning it shows no alterations or any attempts to clean. It shows overall patina on the paint which has darkened the image. Light spotty and minuscule oxidation spots are present. We used the camera flash to accentuate the painted images. Reality, the painting is darker than shown. It appears to be yellow cedar and has the famous deeply carved RAVEN motif. Interesting grip/handle design and abalone eye. Nice aged patina and a couple of white marks across the beak and near the paddle tip. I did not try to remove them, but will leave this to the lucky winner. No date or place made listed. 31-1/4″ in length and about 5″ across at its widest point. From a clean smoke-free home. Don’t let it get away! From a non-smoke home. If you will notice, the bird hanging along the left has his beak opened in an aggravated pose, while the gentlemen sits along the table holding his bleeding finger. Is that feathers scattered across his apron? We can only assume the bird did not appreciate what the man had in mind, note the syringe along the table, with a ball of string and knife. The voluptuous blonde sits with a small grin, just watching as the scene unfolds.
