READ ABOUT OUR GALLERY. FINE AMERICAN RED FLAME PAINTED ANTIQUE BLANKET CHEST. 1830-50, preserved in nearly untouched original condition Item # 1402BQS21PA. This is a very fine and remarkably well preserved antique American blanket chest with a delightful flame painted original surface, the whole executed very skillfully to imitate match booked mahogany veneers. Originating from the Southeastern counties of Pennsylvania, this chest was crafted in the second quarter of the nineteenth century. The molded edge is affixed to the top with wooden pegs around the perimeter, this lifting over original iron hinges (retaining original hand filed screws) to reveal a clean and large interior. The till on the left has a panel beneath it, originally lockable but now easily opened by pulling to reveal two small drawers, each handsomely crafted with tidy dovetails and nailed bottoms, retaining their original turned wooden knobs. The bottom of the case is attached to the sides with large wooden pegs driven through the underside into the frame, each corner having a square wooden block affixed with square iron nails into which the large dowels of the feet are sunk. The feet are beautifully turned balls topped by a sharp ring, each well worn and attractively patinated. Nearly untouched and retaining originality in every aspect of the case, this is an outstanding addition to the period interior. 47″ wide x 22 1/16″ deep x 25 1/4 high. Condition Report: No keys. The hidden panel is missing it’s lock. Scratches and wear as expected to original painted finish. Wear to the feet. Scroll down to view all photos for a full overview of condition. Very Rare Zook Amish 3d Hand Carved Painting Folk Art Kinzers Pennsylvania
This is a beautiful, rare Amish 3d hand-carved painting by Sam Zook, of the Kinzers, Pennsylvania, Zook family. Sam Zook worked in tandem with Abner Zook before Abner’s death, releasing at least one work by the two of them together. I tried to capture the depth of the carved figures through the photos. This is wood-carved in deep relief. It is quite heavy, I’m estimating around 15 lbs. The size of the frame is 17 5/8″ square, with the inner image measuring at 13 1/8″ square. The depth of the frame, not including the carving that extends beyond the frame, is 2 1/8. The item “Very Rare Zook Amish 3d Hand Carved Painting Folk Art Kinzers Pennsylvania” is in sale since Tuesday, April 9, 2019. This item is in the category “Art\Folk Art & Indigenous Art”. The seller is “lorixle” and is located in Louisville, Kentucky. This item can be shipped to United States.

DUE TO THE FACT THAT CAMERAS AND COMPUTERS HAVE COLOR VARIATIONS, WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DIFFERENCES IN PICTURES VERSUS ACTUAL COLOR. WE TRY TO DESCRIBE THE ACTUAL COLORS TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY. Bearing its original red and blue paint, together with Pennsylvania German floral decorations. Appears to be poplar wood. Bears two painted names, one on each side. I can only discern one last name being HUNTZ. I can not read the name on the other side rail. Both names bear the date of 1921 underneath, presumed to be a wedding or dowry rack. One full width drawer in folk art paint in red, and one small drawer underneath, this drawer in soldier blue and red paint. Later hang up hooks on back. The paint is DRY and WORN and shows the great patina and oxidation we all look for. This condition of the paint may be a little rough for some, but others will accept the natural wear. Displays beautifully, and is a nice medium size without being overbearing. Tall to bottom drawer. As described above, and as shown in the photos. No reproduction without prior written consent. Thank you and Enjoy! BE SURE YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH THIS ITEM AS DESCRIBED AND AS PICTURED. If the item fails to sell when the listing has ended, only then will we possibly consider an offer for the item. And again, we will NOT respond to any message received while the listing is active. A wonderfully painted wooden two sided sign advertising Groceries and Provisions. The sign is painted on an old ironing board probably maple wood, not uncommon as ironing boards made of this material did not warp and were readily available. The sign was painted by Damon Herbel Shuey: 2. Damon Herbel Shuey (6) was born July 15, 1869. In his younger years he worked at coal mines as slate-picker, in the summer and went to school in the winter. He afterwards worked in brick yards, in steel works, saw mills and other hard work. He afterwards took up sign painting and is considered very good. Corner Spruce and Guilford Streets is his residence. The sign is from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. Amazing that he signed the piece and to have specific provenance on a hand painted sign is rare. The sign is in excellent condition with more wear to one side as expected form an outdoor sign. As stated painted on a wooden ironing board, 63 1/4″ long x 11 3/4″ wide and 7/8 thick.
