Lovely antique American Folk Art portrait of a young woman with a widow’s peak. She is adorned with fleur de lis earrings and matching pendant. Oil painting is beautifully mounted on gilded gold wood frame. Painting is in great original condition with some craquelure commensurate with its age. No holes, rips or tears. Painting was stored in an attic of a great home, and acquired from a New Jersey estate. Painting signed by A. Any questions, please ask. FANTASTIC 19th c AMERICAN FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY

This is an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC 19th c AMERICAN FOLK ART PORTRAIT of a BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY! It is a WONDERFUL, LARGE, LIFE-SIZE portrait of a young woman in mourning. She is dressed in black. She wears black gloves, and a ANCHOR PIN in the middle of her white bow. She wears a wedding ring, and holds two white roses. The piece is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. It has been RE-LINED for many years of TROUBLE FREE enjoyment. There is in-painting as seen in the photo taken under black light, but is appears the in-painting just added some shading and did not change the features at all. On the back of what appears to be the ORIGINAL STRETCHER, is carved, W M Prior. The frame is a later frame and not original. What makes this piece really special is the attractiveness of the lady. Often times folk art portraits are not of very attractive people. You don’t have that with THIS PIECE! This piece would DEFINATELY make a statement in any room it was located in! It’s a CLASSIC AMERICAN PIECE and if by Prior would be a VERY IMPORTANT PIECE AS WELL! I have included in the last picture a collage of other William Matthew Prior portraits to compare this piece to. Under a strong black-light we found that this painting has been in the hands of a restorer and there are several in-painted restorations. Century, the 3 ¾” by 4 ¾” oval Portrait Painting is circa-1810. In the style of a silhouette the artist of this Miniature Watercolor Painting painted a profile of a young handsome gentleman. The gentleman’s name is unknown, but the artist has signed with a monogram CW or WC, along the bottom edge. You can see a long split along one side of this painting and a couple of spots to the background, but the gentleman is perfect. Century Miniature Folk Art Portrait Painting depicts a young man wearing a double breasted suit and holding his favorite dog. In the background is a window to a landscape. It is difficult to see at first, but there is a fine hairline to this painting, which travels through the left side of the landscape and stops part way through the dogs head. There are no other problems or restorations to this circa 1810 Miniature Portrait Painting. It comes in a simple 4 ¼” by 4 ¾” brass frame. Originally this frame would have fit in a larger gold gilt frame. There is no reserve on this early miniature Folk Art Painting. Depicts a young girl wearing a white laced bonnet and holding a basket of cherries. She has blue eyes and a slight smile and is wearing red shoes. In the background is a country landscape and the painting comes in a hand carved wood frame. Over the years the original gold finish has crazed and there are sections where it is worn. There also is a repair along the bottom center of the frame. We have expected this original circa 1850s Oil Painting with a black light and there no restorations.. I live in Rhode Island and travel between Southern New Hampshire and Eastern Maryland almost every week. If this is not possible I’m positive we can pack this Folk Art Portrait Painting properly.
