Antique Wooden Working Decoy form Hamilton, Ontario Canada. Several coats of paint added over years. Duck is in preening position. The wood has drying cracks and is in good shape for age. The keel has lead insert in the back. History, came from Hamilton, Ontario region of Canada and migrated to Millington, Michigan, several hunting trips can be seen from wear on the wood. Migrated again to Churchville, Maryland and flew in to a collections, who put on a shelf for several years with other Canadian decoys, also, from Madison Mitchell, Captain Harry Jobes, and numerous Maryland decoy makers. She won a music scholarship to Wichita State Univ. (Kansas) but after a year, transferred to the Univ. Of Kansas to study art. She lived in Wichita and did technical illustrations for Beechcraft Inc. When she moved to Chicago, her style became naive or primitive. Her work was widely shown in the 1970s and one of her paintings was used as a cover of a 1973 Saturday Evening Post.
