Vintage Erzgebirge Expertic Germany Wood Sun Moon Star Celestial Family Folk Art

Presented here for your enjoyment is this whimsical set of Erzgebirge Expertic carved wood celestial family figurines from Germany! These wonderful, whimsical pieces of wooden folk art have been made in the Erzgebirge forest region of Germany for at least a century, I believe. This vintage set dates to somewhere in the 1949 to 1990 production period as evidenced by the factory labels with the German Democratic Republic designation. The set of six range in size from 1 5/8 to 3 1/2 tall. The Moon and Sun are the proud parents of four little star children in varying sizes. They all have the cutest little faces! Each piece is hand painted. The colors are glorious, with the creamy paint applied smooth and glossy. The condition of the set is generally very good! Look closely and can see a tiny chip on the gold painted base of the sun, along with an even smaller flake on the back of the head. They are otherwise very minty! I have many other pieces of Erzgebirge that I will be listing this week, so please check back.
