Framed Early 20th Century Oil Guarding the Temple
Framed Early 20th Century Oil – Guarding the Temple. This charming oil depicts a British guard at the doorway to a golden temple near the coast. The artist has captured the scene in a wonderful naive light with stippling and graphite details. Well-presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame with laurel running patterns. The overall condition of the painting is very good. There is some craquelure to the surface and irregular patches of discoloured varnish over the stippled trees. Size: 29 x 22.5cm (11.4″ x 8.9″).
