This is a fabulous and rustic Antique Old Primitive American Folk Art Arabian Horse Ranch Painted Wood Sign, promoting the Lazy L Ranch that once resided in Artesia now part of Norwalk, California. This sign approximately dates to the 1940’s – 1950’s and advertises Arabians at Stud. ” The names of the studding horses are Azeke, and “San Benito, ” and the sign reads: “Horses Boarded. ” Additionally, someone has written “NO TRESPASSING at the top edge of the sign. Each side of this sign features the painted profile of an Arabian stallion. The address for this location reads 16708 Shoemaker, Artesia. This address is now under the borders of Norwalk, a neighboring city. The only information I could find on this ranch comes from two issues of the Long Beach Press Telegram from 1952 and 1953, which have been digitized online. Approximately 32 1/2 x 47 inches. Good condition for half a decade of outside use and weathering, with expected paint loss, paint flaking, edge wear, and some loosening and wood splitting to the original frame please see photos. However, it would be an easy fix to re-attach. Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer.
