Early 1800’s Heart Pine Painted Pie Safe Cupboard. Wonderful cupboard ready for your home. Has all the character you would expect for a nearly 200 year old piece! Beautiful scrolled top gallery boards which are nicely hand dovetail joined at the back corners. Hand wrought nails in back. Drawer is all original with hand dovetail construction all around. 1826 PAINTED AND STENCILED FOLK ART HOOP SKIRT ROCKER. UP FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS THIS OUTSTANDING HAND STENCILED ROCKER THAT HAS BEEN IN A PRIVATE FAMILY COLLECTION FOR THE PAST 100 YEARS. THERE ARE TWO DATES ON THIS FABULOUS PIECE. I WOULD GUESS THAT IT IS DATED TWICE BECAUSE OF MAYBE THE ROCKERS WERE ADDED AT THAT PERIOD OR MAYBE CHANGED FAMILYS AT THAT PERIOD. THE DATES ARE 1826 & 1886. THE 1826 DATE IS ON THE HIGHEST SLAT IN A FADED GREEN DATE AND THE 1886 IS ON THE LOWEST SLAT THAT ARE ALSO STENCILED UNDER THE PAINT. THIS GREAT PIECE OF AMERICANA FURNITURE HAS HER COMPLETELY ORIGINAL ALLIGATORED FINISH. THE ONLY PIECES THAT ARE NOT COMPLETELY ALLIGATORED ARE THE STENCILED RUNNERS (AT LEAST 100 YEARS OLD). A wonderful piece of Americana folk art.. Microscopic analysis of the wood proves it to be white pine. What a proud looking rooster he is! Totally hand carved with excellent detail. The glass eyes look amazing. This old boy has earned some war wounds in his days, the back part of his comb is missing. (of course, it will never show if you display it properly). I restore fine antiques and I restored the legs back to the base, they were loose and one was cracked at the base, it is now rock solid. Of course the wood has some age related shrinkage cracks, mostly in the base and on the underside of the rooster. The rich colors and patina are outstanding. I love the detail of the feet/claws, right down to the black tips on the claws, excellent! This is a rare and beautiful work of art. All the best, Bryan. From tail to chest…. 4 X 4 3/4. Condition on front of painting is very good and clean, showing slight wear to the word ” Waiting “. The back of painting shows some wear, scratches, nicks and some glue marks (the wood may have had the glue marks before she started painting the painting) Front of painting does NOT have these and is again, in very good clean condition. Size is approximately 12 inches in diameter and 1/8 of an inch in thickness. The sides are nicely painting black and varnished also. OLD ANTIQUE Primitive Fine Folk Art OIL PAINTING of CHICAGO in 1832 artwork

Up for sale here is very interesting, antique, circa late 1890s to about 1915 framed oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist. The title of this painting is “Chicago 1832″ This fine oil painting is being offered in its original Arts and Crafts style antique solid wood black painted frame. The size of the oil painting only comes to 22 inches high by 36 inches across and with the frame 27 1/2 inches by 41 1/2 inches. There is no artist signature on the front or the back from what we can see. This painting was part of the collection that once belonged to the Evanston Historical Society located in Evanston, ILL the suburb directly attached to Chicago’s most North and East City limit. It was donated back to the Historical Society back in 1955 which you can see on the back but it does not have the Historical Societies name on it. This painting is going to require an extensive restoration and cleaning. This painting appears to have been stored in an attic in a very warm and dry environment. The entire surface of the painting has an even fine paint crackling. There is a three inch tear in the bottom center. The canvas is also worn and coming loose along the bottom edge of the painting where it meets the frame’s edge but it is not water damaged or stained. There is also a 1/2 inch tear in the canvas in the right center and another 1 1/2 inch tear near the largest tear pictured. There are a few fine paint scratches to the surface of which most would lighten up or disappear once the painting was cleaned and re-varnished. This is a wonderful piece of antique folk art.
