Circa-1840s Antique Miniature Folk Art Watercolor Painting, Birdseye Maple Frame.. Hand painted in watercolors this antique Miniature Portrait Painting depicts a young man with his arm draped over the back of a chair. It measures 2 ¾” by 3 ¾” and comes under early thin glass in the original 5 ½” by 6 ½”, Birdseye Maple Veneer Frame. A past owner has properly replaced the wood backboard with paper. Unsigned, this Folk Art Portrait is on paper and is in original clean condition. The frame has a couple of small dings to the edge, but everything else is original, including the finish. It also was produced c1830 (pre 1900). Nice American Folk Portrait Miniature of a lady c1830, probably French trained artist. In later frame with convex glass and missing reverse, signed and dated 1831 reverse although I cannot make out the signature. Century, the 3 ¾” by 4 ¾” oval Portrait Painting is circa-1810. In the style of a silhouette the artist of this Miniature Watercolor Painting painted a profile of a young handsome gentleman. The gentleman’s name is unknown, but the artist has signed with a monogram CW or WC, along the bottom edge. You can see a long split along one side of this painting and a couple of spots to the background, but the gentleman is perfect. Antique Early 19thC Miniature Folk Art Portrait Painting Young Man & Spaniel Dog.. Measuring 3 3/8″ by 4 1/8″, this early 19. Century Miniature Folk Art Portrait Painting depicts a young man wearing a double breasted suit and holding his favorite dog. In the background is a window to a landscape. It is difficult to see at first, but there is a fine hairline to this painting, which travels through the left side of the landscape and stops part way through the dogs head. There are no other problems or restorations to this circa 1810 Miniature Portrait Painting. It comes in a simple 4 ¼” by 4 ¾” brass frame. Originally this frame would have fit in a larger gold gilt frame. There is no reserve on this early miniature Folk Art Painting. Hand painted on paper, this miniature Portrait Painting measures only 2 3/8″ by 2 7/8″. It depicts a profile of a young man wearing a US Naval, double breasted jacket. At the bottom is the title, “LFT John Rutherford 1849″. In the close up photographs you can see some foxing spots to the background of the painting and there is wear to the 5″ by 6 1/4″ gold gilt frame.
