What an interesting piece. I went to take it out of the frame and I found an unfinished painting on the backside of this painting. Both have fantastic color both are signed by the same artist. Antique Folk Art Oil Painting, Landscape with House, Lake, Boats. This American primative school oil painting depicts a charming scene, undoubtedly painted from life, of an old house on a wooded and rocky promontory overlooking a lake. The oil is painted on some type of artist board. Painted by a “Sunday artist” as they called the amateur folk painters, perhaps the owner of the house. I had the painting reframed with a quality wooden frame appropriate to its character. The backing is conservation quality. Sight: 11 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. Frame: 15′ x 12.

Artist: Marcia Alpert (California). Medium: gouache on watercolor paper. Painting is matted and slightly taped down to board. Signed on front lower left of painting-on the back of board is the original exhibition tag from Oakland Art Association from 1997. Back also is signed and titled in ink along with original artist tag. Painting dates: 1990’s. Painting-12.25″ x 17.5″. Condition: Nice condition with mild wear. Couple tiny spots and stains as shown, areas with mild paint loss, some lifting under tape with mild loss, smudges and stains on matting, painting HAS lifted from matting and board. Needs to be remounted and framed. Overall in good condition. Mild touch up needed but certainly not necessary. This painting is going to look beautiful hanging once framed!
