Measuring only 4 ¼ by 6 this miniature Watercolor Painting depicts a Georgian (1714 – 1830) young lady, sitting with hands folded. Amazingly, on the back is a family tree and the young ladys name is Emily Hay Henshaw (There is a Henshaw in the book The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy). Unsigned, this authentic, 18th century painting comes under glass in an old frame measuring approx 6 ¾ by 8 1/4. As you can see in the photographs, there is a light rubs to the surface of the painting (only in background), frame also has some wear as shown, but this antique Miniature Watercolor still displays well. Found at an estate in Great Britain. The item “Antique 18thC Miniature Folk Art Watercolor Portrait Painting of Emily Henshaw” is in sale since Wednesday, September 26, 2018.
