IMPORTANT EARLY 19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE YELLOW PINE GRAIN PAINTED SETTLE BENCH. With our very highest compliments we are delighted to offer you this very important and rare formed early 19th century yellow hard pine Grain Painted Settle Bench. This is a very large specimen with a spindle turned back, nicely scrolled back rail crest with center pediment and fully formed arms with a lift top seat revealing a large generous storage compartment complete with candle till. It is structurally pure with very strong remaining grain painted decorations with no damages. It has its original very unusual strap hinges with its lock and catch. Sorry we did not receive a key for the lock. This bench is embellished with four painted panels on its front and seats top with panels painted on each right and left end sides. Up for sale is this antique Forestville Clock Company 30 Hour Ogee Clock. It is set apart from others by a very unique and what I find to be a very attractive paint job. I’m not sure how old the paint is, though it is clearly not original. It does show some wear, dings and chips, mostly along the edges and corners. The dial also appears to have some loss and damage which is really only visible when you open the door. Measures about 26″ x 15 1/4″. Please view all 12 photos to help judge condition. It held the washbowl and pitchers as well as a chamber pot on the lower shelf. This was the bathroom of its day. The side “handles” are not handles, but are in fact, towel bars used for the drying of hand towels. This grain paint is often called “smoke” decoration and is often seen in Pennsylvania Antiques. Condition: Excellent Well Cared for Antique Heirloom Condition. Finish does have alligatoring and minor blemishes that only add to the patina look of this piece. It is sturdy and has no scratches. Hosler this was given to and where she lived, but unfortunately we had no luck. Created with a hinged lid and tall turned legs, lockable but untested with no key included, it measures approx. 10-3/4″ tall by 17-1/8″ wide by 8-1/2 long. In good overall condition with age wear, some scattered scratches to the finish but no apparent losses or restorations.
