Antique c1870’s Folk Art O/B Painting of Country Farm & Stacks of Hay

This is a lovely c. 1870’s Folk Art oil on artist board of an antique farmhouse & barn surrounded by fields, woods & a mountain probably located in the Northeast – this clearly a fall scene as the trees near the farmhouse are showing their fall orange, red, & brown fall colors – also, to the left of the farmhouse is a field stacked with harvested hay – one also sees smoke pouring from the single stack chimney on the roof of the farmhouse – the painting was done in an impressionistic/Folk Art style, but, was capably rendered – the painting is in very good condition considering its age; & probably was professionally cleaned in the recent past – what makes this piece of antique artwork stand out is the incredible ornate gilded gesso on wood frame that surrounds the painting – it is really of a “frame within a frame” construction, & is in remarkable condition for its antique c. 1870’s age – the frame appears to have its original gilded paint on its surface & does not seem to have any gesso missing from the wooden framework – it really creates an interesting juxtaposition between the relative simplicity of the painting in relationship to the elaborateness of the gilded frame – the oil on board painting measures 14″ x 9″ sight size; & the gilded frame measures 23″ x 17″ – for its size, the painting & frame are quite heavy suggesting a very strong & thick hardwood base for the frame – the multiple layers of gesso also add to the weight of the artwork – the painting will be packed with a sturdy piece of cardboard over the front of the frame affixed with large rubber bands to protect the front of the frame & the painted surface of the artist board. A self-taught folk artist, Evelyn Dubiel was inspired to paint after a trip to Colonial Williamsburg. She did a series of reproductions based on the work of. Ammi Phillips and then created paintings based on her own experiences (from AskArt. Com). The artist, now in her nineties is from Connecticut. This piece measures 9″ x 12″ (11 3/8″ x 14 3/8″ in the original sponge painted frame). The frame has a few scuffs that you can see in the photo. Please feel free to ask questions. I don’t who painted this large painting, but what a wonderful artist. Look at all those trees… Done in Americana folk art style of Grandma Moses. Certainly worthy of restoring. Canvas measures 24″ tall x 30″ wide. Gold gilt wooden frame measures 27″ x 35″ wide. Good antique 100% original condition with no tears, and no repairs. Being 100+ years old it has dust, dirt, and paint losses bottom right. Remaining paint looks tight, not flaking. A great classic American scene that’s ripe for restoration. AAFA EARLY ANTIQUE WOOD HARVEST FARM TABLE ROUGH SAWN RED ORIGINAL PAINT. Up for sale is this beautiful old kitchen/farm table. It’s a wonderful Primitive red table with a great patina to it. The paint is old and has other light wood undertones as you can see in the pictures. The paint is alligator-ed, worn, peeled and crackled over time. The table has been well used and thus you get the benefits of this amazing ages-old look. It has nicks, dings, edgewear, scrapes, cuts, cracks, knots, stains, chips, chunks and an absolutely wonderful patina. The top of the table is comprised of 3 boards. The top is wood color and does have marks, spots, scrapes and obvious wear from over the years, just the way we like it! It has a rough sawn look to it and is a dark wood color. There are also some old rusty round nails in the top as well as a couple of newer, shiny ones. The legs are turned, ballister style legs as you can see in the pictures. The table measures 75.5″ L x 33″ W x 31 H at one corner (on the casters). At the opposite, kitty-corner, it is 30 H. The skirt, or apron of the table, measures 24.5 H to the floor. This is a great table and would make an amazing centerpiece in your kitchen or dining room. It’s sure to be a conversation starter! We can also recommend a couple of shippers. This is a great table!
