Mose Tolliver – Folk Art, Outsider Artist. This is one of Mose Tolliver’s hard-to-find flower paintings. It is 16″ x 16 1/2″, house paint/acrylic on salvaged wood with his own hanging tab on the rear. It is in very good condition although has imperfections associated with folk art. Mose Tolliver, born in in Alabama, is one of the more celebrated self taught artists from the south. He was a prolific artist who work steadily until around the time he died in 2006. His work has been exhibited extensively in the US and around the world since his first solo exhibition in 1981. In 1982 his work was included in the influential folk art exhibition “Black Folk Art In America, 1930 – 1980″ at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Since then his work has been acquired by many museums including the Smithsonian. I loved Mose T’s work and acquired this work in the early 2000’s from a collector who bought it directly from Mose T. Blow Oskar painting by the legendary folk artist, RA Miller. A rare and most cool Blow Oskar painting by the late and legendary folk artist, R. If you are an REM fan, this is for you. Miller was born July 22, 1912, in Gainesville, Georgia. He left this orb on March 7, 2006. His specialty was whirligigs and the hillside next to his house was covered with colorful spinning windmills as he called them and metal cutouts and painted figures. His cut-out tin animals for which he is best known surrounded his house. He cut tin in the shape of animals, devils, angels, and’Blow Oskar’ (a mystical man who would blow his horn every time he passed by). He gained widespread fame in 1984 after the band REM filmed Left of Reckoning among Millers art. His art is highly-collected and he is considered one of the elder statesmen of Folk Art. Get it while you can. This painting is on a thin piece of wood and measures a perfect 16 x 12-1/2. Appalachian Landscape Deer Oil Painting SIGNED LOLA JOINER KENTUCKY ARTIST

NEVER be afraid to make an offer! Pretty folk art oil painting signed by Kentucky artist Lola Joiner. I believe this is a very early work of hers as it’s on board rather than canvas and cannot be found in a print version as well as looking less refined in style than her more recent pieces. Her earlier pieces were painted on board. It does have some scrapes on the surface, but they do not involve the paint – it looks more like if it were cleaned up and sealed varnish, acrylic spray sealer??? That they would literally disappear. Looks like these scrapes/rubs are on whatever it was sealed with by the artist. Not cleaning it up, you’re getting it as found in the old farmhouse, dust and all. Painting is 16″ tall and 20″ wide without the frame. I’ve included super large photos so you can zoom in on them to see these areas of scraped/rubbed sealer, they do show because of how I made sure bright light are directed on them, but they’re not really noticeable when just looking at it hanging on the wall. Please see my other items for more neat stuff! A blue shirt in a size 12 and I send a red dress….. You get the idea!
