Depicts a family scene outside on the lawn with what appears to be three generations of family. Two couples are embracing and dancing. The children are seated in parlour chairs, the grandmother holding one child. The family dog plays with its toy on the floor. Above all this the scene above shows two birds, believed to depict lovebirds and harmony. Next to the birds faded to the right is a tree which is sketched but not painted; the tree full of the birds. Housed behind glass in a 1800s period plain wooden frame. Wonderful piece of folk art. Frame: 14 1/2 (x) 12 1/2 in. Sight: 11 3/8 (x) 9 1/4 in. The paper shows overall natural age toning. Small piece missing in upper right corner. Frame has not been cleaned or polished, and shows some light scratches. Also as described above, and as shown in the photos. This Extremely Rare Piece of Respected Black Americana History. Came from an Estate Find Years Ago. This Hand Painted and Hand Crafted Piece is Over a Hundred Years Old. Just the Paint, and Patina would Qualify that. It Represents a Funner Time of History, and by NO Means is it a Racial Representation, and Never Be Considered So. IT IS A PIECE OF ART, and Should be Displayed with Pride. Yes the Character is a Little Not to Scale, but was Made in the Era where Black History, as well as Any other Race was a Bit Cartoon-ish. The Gentleman is Well Dressed, and Could have Possibly been a Servant, or a Wealthy Land Owner. Has Crackling in the Paint, with Scuffs, and Chips. It has a Piece of Steel Mounted to the Base, as it was used as a Paperweight. And Measures 12″ H, and 6″ W, 1/4 wide. That Told me I had a Valuable Piece. This is a late 19th to early 20th century hand carved and painted whirligig or weathervane depicting a young slave or farmhand. It has an excellent weathered patina with the original paint. It measures approximately 16″ high, 16″ wide, with a 1.5 depth at the propeller. There are losses to the paint, figure, arrow, and propeller.
