Abby Aldrich Rockefeller American Folk Art Collection -Framed “Landscape with Figures”- Artist Unknown. PLEASE read ENTIRE desciption for wear information. Total framed size measures about 23.5″ x 41.5″ x. Wood frame is about 2 wide. Corners of frame have a little wear- see pics 7, 8 & 9. Paper label on back reads: “LANDSCAPE WITH FIGURES, American 18th Century, Artist Unknown, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Collection, Williamsburg, Virginia” (see pic 2). Partial Paper label near top reads: “Framed Facsimile from the original oil on wood” (see pic 9). Pencil writing on back reads : “Pendelton 13010″ (see pic 9). There is a stain of some sort above the womans hat (see pic 4). There is a plastic plexiglass? Because the back is paper sealed, I do not know what the material the art is on. There is flexability to it, which causes the t. He artwork to not lay perfectly flush against the plastic. Please use pictures as an important source of information. Tape measure is not included. Mose Tolliver, Mose T, was a self-taught artist. He started painting after a pallet of marble fell on his legs and crushed it while working at the furniture store. Mose began to paint on any surface-furniture, scraps, plywood, packing crate sides, Masonite, metal trays, board remnants, throw away chairs or other abandoned surfaces given to him. Mose used what he calls “pure paint, ” house paint-oil based at first, and then water-based latex. At first, he drew birds and flowers, then he expanded to people and children and some personal requests. Mose used his house on Sayre street as his art gallery.
