Antique Folk Art Painting American Revolutionary War 18th Century Soldier Woman

An amazing painting with such historic details! The painting does have wear…. Loose canvas on some of the sides… From an antique lovers perspective…. It’s utterly fabulous! I’m dating this piece from 1779 to 1783 due to the clothing attire and painting details. The dress the lady is wearing dates to the late 1700’s and the soldiers uniform dates after 1779 when George Washington ordered soldiers of the Continental Army wear blue coats. The red trim on the uniform and the windmill in the background make me think Virginia BUT…. This attire was worn in a few other states as well. The couples cheery faces and the entire piece will bring a smile to your face! It’s delicate yet perfectly displayable. It could be preserved in a frame or however you see fit. It’s a lovely piece any collector of period paintings…. Or war memorabilia will cherish! Please see all of the photos and judge the type and condition for yourself. The portrait measures just over 9.75 inches tall and about 7.5 inches across. I love to research the items I sell and do my best to describe them but I’m not an expert. Antique Early American Portrait Painting Man Wart 1820 Attic Find Massachusetts

This handsome visage is part of a pair discovered in a Massachusetts attic and remaining untouched. Please see our other sales for the companion portrait. Measuring 26 1/4″ x 22 1/2″ the oil on canvas is mounted to its original red-wash thin-wood rack/stretcher having lapped corner hoints and wrought head nails. The subject gazes confidently at the viewer with a somewhat world-weary expression under thinning gray hair; a wig? Or something fluffy appears to rest on the table to his left. As the images show, the paint layer is HEAVILY crazed (stable) and the surface is absolutely filthy; it has not been lined. There are some minor edge losses and a pronounced stretcher line. This will leave some new holes in the rack but is preferable to damaging the canvas. American Antique Folk Art Cabinet Cupboard With Glass White Alligator Paint

AMERICAN ANTIQUE FOLK ART CABINET CUPBOARD WITH GLASS WHITE ALLIGATOR PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful little glass door cabinet. It’s old and it’s Primitive. It measures 60.25″ high x 42.25″ wide at the crown and is 15 1/2 deep. There’s one drawer down below the doors and the drawer is 32.25″ wide by 11.75″ deep by 6.25 high. The drawer is painted a vibrant red on the inside as you can see. Inside the top shelf is 9.5″ high the next shelf is 8.5″ high. The next shelf is 14″ high and the bottom shelf is 14″ high. If you remove the top shelf, the next top shelf would be 19″ high as it goes up underneath the front of the cabinet and its about 14″ high to the door head. The barber pole is not for sale. It’s a nice two door cabinet with four panes of glass. Inside it’s painted a white also but the shelves clearly have undertones of red. The hardware, hinges, and latches appear to be original! There are rusty little Shaker style hinges and the little latch on the door has a metal knob. The latch is rusty and painted. The little frames of around the glass parts aren’t as old as the cabinet but we don’t know how old they are. The top is painted as you can see in the pictures and it has a crown around the top. Most of the main wood on this cabinet is 3/4 thick. The back is made from boards and the nails have iron spots and streaking as you can see. There’s also a little repair down at the lower left side. We took a close-up of that. It’s an old white paint with undertones of off-whites. There’s a lot of alligatoring, dry, chippy and peeling paint here and there as you can see. It’s old and it’s cool! There are also some scratches, nicks, chips, surface rust, paint loss, alligator paint, crackle, hand rub wear, edge wear, paint marks and patina. These are all things you want to see in a true antique – don’t you just love it? ! ? ! It’s a nice size too!! It’s a very nice piece for your collection. Thank you for looking at this item.
