This offering is for an antique mid 19th Century Hand Painted Chair Crest Rail. The wooden crest rail has a wonderful floral paint decoration that includes three tulips at the left side. It looks like the current surface, while quite old, is over an earlier green paint but it has achieved a very nice surface and patina in it’s own right. The length of the rail is app. 15.75 and the height is app. 3.75 The condition is excellent with minor wear to the surface but no cracks, breaks or repairs. What it looks to me is like it could possibly be a painting of a previous US president.. The painting itself is in near excellent condition, the frame does have few scratches and dings on it. Mid 19th Century Oil – The Piper And His Apprentice. A fine example of naive English school painting from the mid 19th Century. The scene shows an elderly man playing bagpipes as a young boy holds up a hat, signalling for coins to be thrown in. The painting is unsigned and presented in a 29th Century gilt effect frame with oversize scrolling foliate molding. The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame is in fine condition. Size: 20 x 16cm (7.9″ x 6.3″). Includes a Certificate of Authenticity. This wonderful painting depicts a horse and small dog greeting each other next to a small pond while a hunter heads down a path in the background. The sky, with hues of blue and pink, is exceptionally painted with billowing clouds. The work is identified on the plaque as being titled The Gamekeepers Favourite. The plaque also mentions this work is illustrated in Sporting Magazine, April 1836 and was painted by J. Roads and engraved by H. The work is oil on canvas and is housed in an antique gilt wood frame. It appears to be unsigned. 12 inches tall by 10 inches wide (painting). 17 inches tall by 15 inches wide (frame).
