ORIGINAL ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY COUNTRYSIDE HOME WITH FAMILY & HORSE CART FOLK ART OIL PAINTING. This is just a great original piece. Fresh from a Worcester Massachusetts estate, this is a really wonderful charming 19th Century American folk art painting. Oil on panel measuring 9 x 12 inches there is no signature that I can find anywhere. The quality is very high. A lot going on in this work. The family house along the right side with ducks eating in the front yard. Mother and daughter seem to be arriving home from the fields with baskets in hand. Father is riding the horse cart down the road approaching the corner. Some great details including the houses in the distance, the crossroads sign at the corner, and the weeds in the road. The cloud and sky work in this painting is really high quality. Better than I have seen in many similar folk art paintings of this period. This was not done by any amateur artist. Really a very high quality painting. Mostly clean with just some minor spotting and surface grime. Still bright and vibrant. Original gold frame shows some minor chipping but is complimentary and ready to hang. Really an excellent presentation. A wonderful 19th century American scene. Frame measures 12 1/4 x 15 1/4 inches. Large 19th century folk art painting Mother & Children in Nature beautiful

This sale is for a 19th century folk art painting of a mother with her children in nature. It is an oil on canvas. It is in its original frame, which measures 31 1/4″ wide by 42 1/4″ tall. The painting itself measures 25 1/4″ wide by 36 1/2″ tall. It has craquelure throughout, and a little chipping on the mother’s neck, but overall it is a stunning piece and would look great in a Victorian or classicly decorated home. I had a frame store put a paper shield over the back of the frame to protect the painting. There is a little tear in the paper, but it does not affect the painting in any way. Has an American flag & water – mountain-scape in background. Painting measures approximately 10″ x 12″ & framed 13-3/8″ x 15-3/8″. Condition is original & good. There is what appears to be the remnants of a gold leaf paint line, in the form of an arch, at the top of the painting (see last two pictures). It may have been to outline the top of the painting? Antique 19th c Folk Art Portrait of Older Woman Oil on Canvas Painting

We have a great piece of 19th century Amerian folk art in the form of an original oil on canvas portrait painting. Finely executed with clean details, left unsigned, the artist paints an older woman with her hair pulled back, small hoop earrings and a white collar on black shirt. Placed in an antique gold gilded frame, it measures approx. 27″ by 32″ with sight size of 21″ by 26-3/8″. Condition: Paint loss along the top of the canvas, overall craquelure, and there appears to be paint touch ups to her face. B. K. Schnitzer (US, 19th C.) Folk Art Oil Painting Colonial Hunting Dog Scene

Depicts a great folk art primitive style hunting dog scene with two pointers in the woods accompanied by a hunter in 18th century colonial clothes. It is uniquely signed on the lower right in the shadow of a fallen tree by what looks like the artist B. Schnitzer as shown in the close up photo. Excellent subject matter by a folk artist with a great look to the frame as well that appears to be a gilted internal frame surrounded by recovered wood or a much older, possibly 18th century frame. A very unusual and excellent old 1800’s folk art piece. Condition : Painting is in great condition with some wear and scratches/loss to frame as described in condition details above. No noticeable major defects on the painting itself except for a small half inch scratch to the surface near the front dogs leg as shown in the close up picture and 2-3 tiny pinhead size chips where paint flaked off that is almost impossible to notice unless you look really close. Overall, a great condition painting for the age and could be hung and displayed as is. It measures total in frame at 21 1/4″ x 18 3/8″ with the painting itself at 14 1/8″ x 11 1/4″. The frame is quite nice at about 3 deep with an excellent look of weathering. I think the frame is much older then the painting and has survived with great character. A really unique piece! A portion of the sales price of this painting will be donated to Arts Unleashed, a charity that makes film and media projects to help dogs and companion animals! The item “B. K. RARE 19TH C DOCUMENT BOX IN THE BEST OLD ORIGINAL FOLK ART PAINTED DECORATION. AN EXTREMELY FINE AND EARLY 19TH CENTURY FOLK ART DECORATED DOCUMENT BOX IN WONDERFUL RED, ORANGE, WHITE, BLACK AND BLUE DECORATION OVER THE ORIGINAL WINDSOR GREEN BASE COAT. EXTRAORDINARY EARLY PAINT DECORATIONS. THIS BOX HAS A FLAT TOP AND IS MADE OF EARLY NAILED CONSTRUCTION. IT STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL IRON HINGES. THE INTERIOR HAS REMNANTS OF A 1868 NEWSPAPER FROM QUEBEC CANADA WHICH WAS USED TO SELL THE BOX AS CANADIAN… THE PAINT IS ALL ORIGINAL. IT IS GRUNGY AND WELL DONE. THE TOP HAS THE USUAL PAINT WEAR FROM MUCH USE BUT THE REST IS IN EXTREMELY FINE CONDITION, (see photos). IT HAS A VERY RARE FOLK ART INVERTED HEART DECORATION THROUGHOUT. THE PAINT IS WELL OXIDIZED but STILL BRIGHT. This BOX is “Untouched”. THIS BOX IS MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. THE PAINT IS SPECTACULAR. The box is 14 1/2″ wide, 8″ deep and 8 1/4 tall. It exhibits only the typical wear and tear you would see from 200 years of use as I have shown in the photos. A truly great find especially in such fine condition and surface, usually these are in poor shape and have been stripped of all their paint and patina. Minor paint loss as seen. FANTASTIC 19th c AMERICAN FOLK ART PORTRAIT OF A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY

This is an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC 19th c AMERICAN FOLK ART PORTRAIT of a BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY! It is a WONDERFUL, LARGE, LIFE-SIZE portrait of a young woman in mourning. She is dressed in black. She wears black gloves, and a ANCHOR PIN in the middle of her white bow. She wears a wedding ring, and holds two white roses. The piece is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. It has been RE-LINED for many years of TROUBLE FREE enjoyment. There is in-painting as seen in the photo taken under black light, but is appears the in-painting just added some shading and did not change the features at all. On the back of what appears to be the ORIGINAL STRETCHER, is carved, W M Prior. The frame is a later frame and not original. What makes this piece really special is the attractiveness of the lady. Often times folk art portraits are not of very attractive people. You don’t have that with THIS PIECE! This piece would DEFINATELY make a statement in any room it was located in! It’s a CLASSIC AMERICAN PIECE and if by Prior would be a VERY IMPORTANT PIECE AS WELL! I have included in the last picture a collage of other William Matthew Prior portraits to compare this piece to.
