Old Primitive Handmade Wood Wall Hanging Folk Art Salt Box in Dry Green Paint. Nice old primitive, country, folk art, Salt Box will make a perfect addition to your folk art or primitive collection. Handmade with Green paint. Can sit on a table or hang on the wall. You can read parts of it on the back and inside. Reads Church & Dwight New York, NY also Keep dry don’t store in cellar. Measures 9 1/2″ inches tall and 5 1/2″ inches wide and 4 5/8 inches deep. Hand painted “Salt” in a diamond slightly askew on the front. Great patina and paint, hard to find. Some wood splits in places as pictured. Good condition considering the age and utilitarian use. Pictures tell the story. I’ve owned this box in my folk art collection for a while now. This is a full size Shaker style triple wall box in old black paint. The 3 front panels are graduated to create very nice proportions. It is constructed of pine with tiny cut nails and some brass screws in the back for reinforcement. This is a reconstruction made from old vintage wood with the original black paint. There is some in-painting and touch-up on the edges. The dimensions are: 19-1/4″ tall x 12-1/4″ wide x 3-1/2 deep. Please view all of the pictures. An old primitive hand carved and painted wooden cigar store Indian. The paint looks original. There are some areas that will need attention. The fingers on the hand on the forehead have broken off but it is a clean break and will be an easy repair with glue. And paint, the same with the chip out of the back of his head dress. There is minor cracking that is normal for these old hand carved pieces. It looks like the previous owner put wood putty on a back crack and that worked well. Still a wonderful piece of Americana. A very nice New England triple wall box in old black paint. This wall box features a traditional style back board of 3/8 pine. The sides and front panels are of thin 3/8 pine. The three front panels are graduated, the bottom being 4″ wide, the center 3″ wide and the top panel 2-1/2 wide which gives it nice proportions. It is fastened with tiny square cut nails. This is a reconstruction or reproduction made from early period wood. The paint is original old paint as is the wear on the edges. The dimensions are: 12″ wide x 18″ tall x 3-3/4 deep. There are paint spatters, nail holes and stains as well. The picture of the back shows a thin strip of wood that has been glued to add a little more strength to the upper back.
