LRG Original Folk Art WW2 Veteran Paintings on Vintage Metal Gas Station Numbers
Paintings done on large, vintage steel numeral signs that were likely used for advertising gas prices along a highway- they’re pretty big. These are original, handmade, one-of-a-kind art pieces, not prints of reproductions. The numbers themselves are double-sided and were used, so that means there’s a good degree of scuffs, scratches, wear, and some holes drilled into them, especially along the comers. See all the photos for examples of this. As shown in the pics, they were mounted to a wood frame and then the paintings were done onto these vintage numbers. There is a vintage Esso map used in those areas behind the soldiers. Those areas are cut paper from the map pasted-in to those designs and also in the area in the’ghost’ soldier’s tie.
