This early 1900s cedar? Wood carving with original polychrome under shiny age-darkened varnish measures 5 7/8 tall and depicts a bow-legged man with plaid shirt, big feet and exaggerated African American features. As the images show, the figure has desirable old surface and color and silver paint on the neck where it appears to have been glued back on. The sides are 3/4 inch thick and are painted with the night scene wrapping around the edges so that a frame is not needed for hanging but recommended for this thickness of canvas. A moonlit winter scene with snow covered trees and a warmly lit cabin. Three bears out on a stroll. All under a bright, full Moon. Some Texture in the painting. High Quality Acrylic Paints Used. The backside of this canvas will also be Titled, signed with my full name, Lizzy Rainey, and dated 2019. This painting will also be sealed with a light clear varnish for protection. HOWARD FINSTER – “ABRAHAM LINCOLN FROM A PENNY” (1989) – ORIGINAL AMERICAN FOLK. Wood cutout panel nailed to wooden base. Painting approximately 9.75 tall. Base measures approximately 6″ x 3.75″. Dated and signed by Howard Finster’Jan 18 1989 2:34: Past Midnight’. Flaws’ in panels are natural to the wood. This piece’s writing is directly on the wood base (no paper applied to base). Howard didn’t paint in Lincoln’s beard, but did give him’Elvis’ sideburns! Also rather unique to this piece is the addition of glitter Finster added to some of the artwork on the front (see picture). Beautiful antique Perfection #525 oil/kerosene heater – metal and rounded on four feet – beautiful intricate decorative designs in metal. This piece is an estate find and has been painted with mustard yellow and reddish/brownish trim with folk art/Americana scenes of children playing outside – a wonderful piece. Heater does not have the mechanism inside to use as a heater anymore, but this will make a great decorator piece inside of your home or on a porch, etc – can also take a piece of glass and place on top and use as a side table or plant stand. Antique Folk Art horse pull toy ca. Stands 19 1/8 tall as seen. Weighs about 11 pounds. Horse alone is 16 7/8 tall, 20 1/2 long, about 5 wide. Base is 8 3/4 wide, 20 3/4 long and 1 thick. Very fine late 19th century carved wood horse pull toy. Original leather saddle , missing stirrups. Most of the reins are also missing but still has. Four metal tacks and a leather strip behind the ears. Original black finish accentuated with white at the ankles and face. Plus a yellow outline around the saddle. Has a beautifully carved flowing mane on the right side. Real horse hair tail. Base is a single piece of 1 thick oak with cut outs for the four wooded wheels. It has a small remnant of the leather pull at the front. A few minor scuffs. Tip of its left ear was broke off and glued back on. More photos on request. Found in central Iowa. This will be carefully packed in a large box. Measuring roughly 15″ x 26″ x 26. Painted on a plywood with oval cut wood applied for head. 1 Signed bottom right. VERY GOOD CONDITION with two nail holes in board, typical for a BANK’S work executed on recycled materials. This piece exemplifies the emotion and talents of Mr. More vibrant than my camera captured. Loaded with Michael’s signature razor etchings! BIO: Michael has won many honors with his work which has been exhibited in New York, Denver, and Atlanta. The Hurn Museum in Savannah, Georgia presented a One-Man exhibition of his work in 2005 and has a number of his works in their permanent collection. Articles featuring his work have appeared in Southern Living magazine (August 2006) and Better Homes and Gardens (August 2006).
