Facial features are particularly well rendered. A great piece of Americana. She is wearing a black blouse with a white collar attached with a broach. The style of clothing appears to be from the 1840s-1860s. She exhibits a calm, confident manner. Perfect for Victorian, Civil War, Edwardian, Romantic, farmhouse, and mid to late 1800s decors. This has been painted on canvas which is attached to a pine underframe by original flat head nails. The painting is 8″ tall by 10″ wide. I’m not an expert, but painting appears to be in very good shape with no significant damage (see photos). The painting is not signed or marked in any way.
