Measures 23″ x 19″. Ann Rugh Baker of Carmel Valley, California, was born in San Francisco in 1930. After moving to the Monterey Peninsula she met and married Eugene Ames Baker (also an artist). Rugh (the name she now paints under) studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. She paints in what can be called a “folk art”, almost abstract, style. Gorgeous original watercolor painting of a still life of flowers, dating to the early 1960’s. Watercolor is on Baindbridge Illustration Board. The painting is signed in initials BHS. Condition is very good and clean on the actual painting. Please except some flaws in the blank margins. Blank margins are in fair to good condition. Artist used tape to paint her watercolors, so the edges would be even. Back is in good clean condition with some imperfections a few minor small paint splashes. Vintage original Carol Blanchard 1940’s figural nude oil painting Folk Art

Up for sale is a wonderful vintage original Carol Blanchard oil painting on masonite. Carol is a very reputable American illustrator who is best known for her Folk Artsy Lord and Taylor illustrations and her art has shown in large museums like the MOMA. The painting is done with a wonderful stylized approach and painted with rich color. It depicts a topless lady playing a string instrument wearing slippers topped with little bugs. Aside are 4 male figures looking on with multiple eyes to each face. The piece is signed faintly on the bottom right as well as the back. It’s set in a lovely vintage carved wooden frame in the shape of engraved wooden logs. It is in nice condition with normal ware from age and measures 22 inches by 18 inches framed.
