Antique folk art scene of six girls playing in the snow. One girl is holding a doll, one girl has a snowball in her hand while another girl has her arms raised high. Two other girl bent down playing in snow with another girl standing behind them. There are some flaked off pieces of paint at the bottom. The oil painting is in a newer gold frame which compliments it. Definitely one of a kind!

This is an awesome piece of work by Willie, 2 for 1 Paintings done in true Jinks story telling form! One side he’s talking about “Dan’s catfish hole” and on the other side he’s talking about “Hoper’s baby sister’s precious hen”, “bird say not what she say, “Hoper lay it down which I believe he means to slaughter it. Born 1 of 13 children in 1921 to a Sharecropper family from Locust Grove Georgia. He moved to Atlanta as a young man and began working for the department of sanitation. He began collecting junk to make art out of in his “hobby shed” and called his self a “Hobbyman” which in his cryptic writing it comes out as “Hoperman” and shows up in much of his work. This piece is done on very dense wall or fence board and is very heavy weighing about 20lbs. I love this piece so much and think he’s definitely in the Outsider Folk Art Hall of Fame…. Any questions please ask and thanks for looking..

Benjamin Diamond opened a picture framing factory in Midtown Manhattan in the early 20th century. Originally known as Royal Art, the business worked closely with artists and museum institutions, developing a reputation for creating fine frames. Royal Art passed through the family and eventually evolved into Sulis, now run by Benjamin’s grandson Bill, and his son Dan. We handpick all our stock and we’ve grown into a ten-strong team of art historians, photographers, restorers, studio technicians and despatchers. We relocated to our Corsham studio in early 2020, leaving behind our small garden workshops in Bradford-on-Avon that had been our base for several successful years. We are always striving to connect people with the art they love. Each week we add new artworks to our extensive catalogue, across all styles, subjects, colours and periods. At the heart of Sulis, we rescue and restore lost and forgotten works, giving you the opportunity to find unique pieces and discover art in a new and different way.
