This beautifully crafted, extra-large mahogany wood tray features a terrific Theorem painting under glass. The quality of both tray and artwork are exceptional. As the magnified photos depict, the tray’s wood handles are 8-sided, mounted with solid brass hardware, and feature brass end caps. The painting is signed C. As with most traditional Theorem folk art, it is oil painted on soft velvet fabric. Colors are rich and the composition effectively creates 3-dimensional impact by the use of many different handmade stencils. The still life Tablescape features a central, Asian-themed bowl with many finely-detailed fruits and foliage. CONDITION: Mahogany wood gleams. The tray is strong, sturdy and very substantial. One corner seam is not as tight as the others, but this has no impact on its’ structural integrity. Handles are securely attached. Wood has some small nicks, and surface wear as to be expected for its age, but these are few and all are minor. The artwork is in excellent condition. There imagery has no spots, fading, paint loss, or discoloration. The glass is fully intact, very clear and without scratches. There is no dust or particles trapped between glass and art. The bottom of the tray has a relatively new backing of heavy black paper. This is typical for wall-hanging artwork -which might have been the reason for its use. A backing of felt would be more appropriate if the piece is to be used as a serving tray -an easy fix. This is a very clean and completely odor-free item. Ready to use, display and admire.
