Adirondack Village of Clintonville, NY Vintage Folk Art oil Painting

This is a cute vintage almost-Folk Art type of oil painting that was done on artist masonite board by listed artist Ruth Mould (1894 – 1979) – the painting was done in the 1960’s – 1970’s. Was created with the viewer looking up a rural & curvy Route 9N in the village of Clintonville, New York in the Adirondack region where Route9N is leading to the famous Au Sable Forks where the Rome River branches into the Au Sable River. This appears to be in the late fall season where the artist has depicted all of the trees in the foreground as having muted shades of dark yellow & orange colors – all of the grass & ground foliage on both sides of the road have turned various shades of brown & gray colors – we see in the center & center right of the painting an old farm with various outbuildings which Mould has painted with a palette of muted & subtle red, yellow, white & blue colors to depict the farm buildings as weather-beaten as they would be considering their location in the Adirondacks. In the background, the artist shows two mountains with rounded tops which she has painted with very pale & muted blue & off-white colors which create a sense of distance & depth between the mountains & the Au Sable Chasm where Route 9N is going – specks of off-white color on the tops of the mountains suggest some snowfall already at the highest elevations. The painting measures 12″ x 16″ sigh size, & is in very good condition for its vintage age – it was very well kept by its former owner – the gray colored wooden frame is original to the painting selected by the artist herself – it measures 15″ x 19″, & is also in very good condition for its vintage age. Aafa Folk Art Early Primitive Antique Old Wood Grey Original Paint Tote Tray

AAFA FOLK ART EARLY PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE OLD WOOD GREY ORIGINAL PAINT TOTE TRAY. Up for sale is this old antique tote with a handle. It’s wood and has splayed sides and a handle cut out on in the middle carry it by. It’s a low tray and has old grey paint with more paint remaining on the outside and a darker patine on the inside. You can see lots of wood color under the missing paint. On one end, near the handle, there’s a notch out of the end wood. Below the notch there’s another little hole. We’re not sure what these were for, perhaps a drain? , but they appear to have been intentional. There’s also a saw cut on this end where perhaps they started another notch and stopped. On the other end, right next to the handle there’s a slot. The nails are rusty but appear to all be round. There is a lot of edge wear, paint loss, nicks, scrapes, splatters, scratches, and dings. There is also a lot of iron spotting around the nails. On the bottom there is some green paint here and there. This looks to be something it may have been set in rather than paint that it was painted, but we’re not sure. All of these “issues” are just as you’d expect from an item of this age. 25.5 L x 12.25 W x 3.5 H to rim x 7.5 H to handle. It’s a very nice piece for your collection.
