This is an excellent mid 19th century American Dutch ripple ebonized frame. The color of this ripple is a bit different…. Not the more common deep solid black but more of a dark chocolate-black. In bright outdoor light it looks a bit more brownish…. But in indoor light it looks more ebonized. It has the original lemon pie crust liner that has been shimmed in due to shrinkage and black painted sides. The frame is in excellent condition, measures 18 3/4 x 22 3/4 with a 16 1/4 x 20 rabbet and looks to have been resized. Period ripples are always a tough find and they have so many uses.
