A wonderful carved and painted folk art whirligig with policemen. Each policeman is carved differently and are different sizes from 12″ to 13″ tall. Each has a tin hat and two have tin badges. The form and surface are fantastic and show wear from being in weather. Hints of red paint there were strips on their pants can be seen. The arms move freely as the policemen also rotate freely. We found this piece in New England and feel it was created somewhere in that region. The overall size of the whirligig is 24″ high on the folk art iron stand and 27″ wide. Amazing painted wooden tattoo equipment case for travel or storage. The case is made of wood with an iron handle and fine early dovetail construction. Electric tattooing was invented in the late 1800’s, this case dates sometime in the early 1900’s. The case was found in Cincinnati, Ohio but we could not attribute it to any particular old time artist from that time. The eagle and lettering are wonderfully painted on the front with great detail and there is a painted “B” on one side. The eagle and the lettering painted on the case have a wonderful old surface and are in excellent condition with expected wear. It is 25 3/4″ long x 15 3/4″ wide and 9 1/4 deep. Like us on face book.
