Vermont Fancy Paint Decorated Miniature Blanket Chest Document Box Folk Art
Fancy Vermont paint decorated miniature chest with brown swirly decoration on an ivory background. The ivory background is original old paint. The decoration is a newer addition. The box features a nice stylized base, square cut nail construction and a till inside. The front and back panels are nicely mortised into the sides. The hinges are new. This is a reconstruction made from old recycled pine with original painted surface. The dimensions are: 7-1/4″ tall x 13-1/2″ wide x 5-1/8 deep (front to back). Rare Aafa Antique Folk Art Early 1800 Paint Yellow Blue Primitive Wood Dry Sink
AMAZING AAFA 1800’S ORIGINAL PAINT YELLOW BLUE EARLY PRIMITIVE WOOD DRY SINK. Up for sale is this wonderful old primitive dry sink. It’s a nice sized two door cabinet with a shelf inside. It’s a wonderful dry, soft yellow color with blue and wood undertones. There is paint coming through the yellow paint. There is a wonderful blue paint on the inside of the doors which may indicate that the entire cabinet. May have been blue at one point and the outside yellow was the secondary color. Please see photos for the best description and accuracy. The paint appears to be all original and is dry, worn, rubbed, scraped, chipped, nicked, edge worn and patina-ed! There are also some cracks in the wood from age. This is everything you’d expect to see from an old survivor cabinet like this! What a great look! It’s an old dry sink and you can see that there’s even a drain / hole on the right side in the back. We took a close up picture of this. The doors open and the left door has a metal latch and loop to hold it shut. You could leave the doors open and display crocks, or firkins or other wonderful items. There are a lot of old rusty nails as you can see in the pictures. Also, there’s a crack in the left side that starts at the top but is still sturdy and strong. The paint has some edge wear, scrapes, patina, fading, variation of color, wood showing through, chipping and nicks. Please see photos for accurate detail and description. The pictures are pretty good for the color, especially the close up ones. It’s a great old cabinet / cupboard!! The cabinet measures 41.5 W x 18.5″ D x 29.75″ H. The well inside measures 40″ W x 17″ D x 4.75 H. This is a great dry sink! Please look at the photos for a more accurate description and detail and ask lots of questions if needed. Wonderful early 19th century tin toleware document box. Great folk art look. New York State in origin. Larger than often found, it has a domed hinged lid and is complete with its hinges, top brass handle, and clasp closure. It is wonderfully hand painted with a beautiful mustard yellow and red floral pattern with various painted motifs all around. The left side shows no evidence of paint decoration, and must have either never been painted or it has completely worn off. Measures 9 9 3/4 inches across by 5 3/4 inches deep by 7 1/4 inches tall. I strive to use solid wood in construction in my work and only occasionally use high quality plywood where deemed it would outperform a natural wood species, I hate pressboard, and MDF type products and you will never find them in any of my work. Finishes are applied by hand and often involve time consuming multistep processes to achieve an antique, vintage or worn appearance. Cabinets and furniture I build are made from a majority of reclaimed wood. While my work is design-build in the traditional style, the use of the reclaimed wood gives the piece an original worn appearance without beating up the piece to make it look old. When using reclaimed wood, there will be imperfections knots-knot holes, nail holes, scratches, dings and dents. Those imperfections are what make each piece stand out on its own from the next. Paint decorated miniature chest with original black paint and bold decoration in red on three sides and a nice cut-out base. The box features thumb molding on the top, brass hinges, square cut nail construction and a till inside. The front and back panels are nicely mortised into the sides. The black background is original paint with heavy wear and the decoration is a newer addition. (note the cut out area in the top edge) This is a reconstruction made from old recycled pine with original surface. The dimensions are: 7″ tall x 11-1/2″ wide x 4-3/4 deep (front to back).
