1940s PIONEER LOG CABIN HOME LIFE OIL PAINTING Signed Primitive/Folk Art OREGON
Vintage original Oil Painting by Gladys Myers Weaver — painted circa 1940s — Ms. Weaver was a talented local artist from the Dallas, Oregon area who painted with an accurate and wonderful Primitive/ Folk Art style — this work is a rendering of a happy day at home in Pioneer America, possibly a view from the childhood of the artist: there is an incredible amount of detail in this picture from the Grandmother knitting, Dad stoking the fire, Mom nursing the baby, with her older girl looking on curiously-you can even see the outhouse through the open door, all on a spring day — the painting is quite large and painted on board, screwed to a wood frame — the painting measures about 48 by 53 in. // the frame is slightly larger — — a friend of mine is listing another work by Ms. Weaver that is quite interesting. As with any painting hanging for years this is moderately soiled, plus has a couple of small holes — would benefit from professional cleaning. Thank you for visiting our site. Antique 19th Century’COUNTRYSIDE FAMILY HOME’ Folk Art OIL PAINTING -Horse Cart
ORIGINAL ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY COUNTRYSIDE HOME WITH FAMILY & HORSE CART FOLK ART OIL PAINTING. This is just a great original piece. Fresh from a Worcester Massachusetts estate, this is a really wonderful charming 19th Century American folk art painting. Oil on panel measuring 9 x 12 inches there is no signature that I can find anywhere. The quality is very high. A lot going on in this work. The family house along the right side with ducks eating in the front yard. Mother and daughter seem to be arriving home from the fields with baskets in hand. Father is riding the horse cart down the road approaching the corner. Some great details including the houses in the distance, the crossroads sign at the corner, and the weeds in the road. The cloud and sky work in this painting is really high quality. Better than I have seen in many similar folk art paintings of this period. This was not done by any amateur artist. Really a very high quality painting. Mostly clean with just some minor spotting and surface grime. Still bright and vibrant. Original gold frame shows some minor chipping but is complimentary and ready to hang. Really an excellent presentation. A wonderful 19th century American scene. Frame measures 12 1/4 x 15 1/4 inches.
