A charming folk art painting of a brother and sister playing with blocks. A beautiful and adorable painting with all the details you want to see in this genre. These two childrens names are “John and Mary”. Apparently sitting on the floor playing with their blocks. Behind them is an open window complete with flowers and a lake. This work was done by “Louise Lecka”, a self taught artist whose career actually was a school teacher. She spent most of her life in Currituck County, N. One of the most highly regarded American self- taught artists began life as the son of a sharecropper and farm overseer on the Rittenour farm. Mose Tolliver was the youngest of seven sons born into the Ike Tolliver family of twelve children. Olive School briefly through the third grade. I didn’t like school. ORIGINAL Antique Folk Art Painting Countryside Adirondack Picture Frame. It is unsigned as far as I can tell, but I have not removed the paint from the frame. It has NO glass!! Outside of frame – 15″ X 13 1/2″ at largest points. Inside of frame – 9 3/4″ X 7 3/4″. Great age appropriate condition. Shows signs consistent with age and use. The painting has some damage on top left corner as you can see pictured. Very insignificant for being so old. The antique frame is beautiful, but has also insignificant issues for age.
