They are known for their resilience, rich culture, and history of resisting colonization. The Yoeme’s ancestral lands are in the Yaqui River valley, and they have a unique blend of spiritual and religious beliefs that combine both traditional Yaqui practices and Catholic traditions. Jim Covarrubias is an Arizona native with decades-long experience in the Arts. He is a U. Army veteran, sustains an MFA from Arizona State University, and is the founder of numerous organizations involving art, public service and education including M. A. R.
