He was born and has been living in a coastwise village which is well-known for its beautiful scenery as well as cultivating genius artists. Yiu Ping is one of them. He is very intelligent and diligent. He loved painting since childhood. However, his family could not afford sending him to school to learn art due to poverty. He never gave up himself, and learned to paint by self-study. He is a sensitive person and loves rural life. Rural happenings inspire him and stimulate him to paint. His paintings are strongly influenced by rural lifestyle, both traditional and contemporary characteristics. He delineates different aspects of countryside by his strokes of vivid imagination. His art works have gained world-wide appreciation.
