Scroll down to see a larger pic. “Initiation” Acrylics by: Jeff Hughart 24″ x 30″ x. 75 Canvas 2018 Original Painting. “Initiation” is painted with acrylics on quality gallery wrapped (no staples on sides) canvas that is 3/4 inches deep and painted black on all sides so framing is not necessary. This is an original work of art that I have signed on the front and signed and dated on the back. I sell my paintings in gallery shows, on my website and by appointment from my private studio in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. They tell me that my paintings are quite addictive. My paintings are described as raw, emotional, colorful and energetic. No doubt that they are influenced by my punk rock past. My paintings are also influenced by the work of some of my favorite artists; Basquiat, Matisse, Picasso, Dubuffet, Twombly, Gary Panter, R. Miller, Warhol, Pollack, Lucien Freud, Diebenkorn, Francis Bacon, etc. From time to time I do commissioned work. Please contact me for information about the process and pricing. Jeff, you’re the best!!! They look even better than the pictures… ” “Wonderful new addition to my cast of characters who inhabit my abode! ” “One piece is better than the next. Makes my walls smile! ” “PAINTING WAY BETTER THAN DESCRIBED/PICTURED. Je recommande” “love this work, look forward to purchasing from Hughart again” “I LOVE THIS PAINTING! I actually have goosebumps looking at her. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH. âââ¬ÃâWhen artist Jeff Hughart, formerly Stink! Of the infamous punk rock band, The Rotters, first put paint on canvas, it wasn’t the result of an unexplained obsession or because God had demanded it. It wasn’t the positive byproduct of mental illness. It didn’t emerge from his interpretation of a haunting nocturnal dream. It wasn’t even in support of a specific artistic vision. From a forthcoming article by Kay Ballard. Some of Hughart’s smaller paintings seem to me to be modernized cave paintings with an extra dose of attitude. RUTH RUSSELL WILLIAMS ORIGINAL Painting AFRICAN AMERICAN FOLK ART FLOWER SELLERS
This is an ORIGINAL oil painting, NOT a print , and in my opinion, the loveliest painting by RUTH RUSSELL WILLIAMS that I have ever seen. The colors are fresh and bright and the figures are delicately detailed. Her bio can be found below. This is quite a find for any collector. Professionally matted and framed. MEASUREMENTS: Image is 8.5 x ll inches Outside of frame is 15 x 18 inches RUTH RUSSELL WILLIAMS BIO Ruth Russell Williams was born in 1932 in Townsville, North Carolina. Later, her paintings would portray scenes from this early work and from many other childhood experiences, including memories of going to work with her grandmother to the home of a plantation owner. She developed her talent along a path that took her from these humble beginnings to beauty salon owner and cosmetologist to national recognition as a self-taught artist. Initially drawn to ceramics, she taught ceramics at Vance-Granville Community College. When her children were mostly grown, she began painting, in her words, “to tell my life story”, but initially thought her paintings lacked merit. At an art exhibit at Kerr Lake in 1985, Williams was quite satisfied showing her work to the public, but when she learned that North Carolina A & T art professor James McCoy was nearby, she grabbed her paintings and hid behind bushes, fearful of presenting her work before a professional. McCoy, however, immediately recognized Williams unique aesthetic sensibility. He told Williams that she was a gifted folk artist and predicted that she would one day become widely recognized. For the next two decades, Williams produced hundreds of paintings, each one telling a story of life as she saw it, in a simple, straightforward and vividly colorful way. Her work is now prized by collectors and museums throughout the United States and Europe. One of her best-known works, Baptism, appeared on the cover of Smithsonian magazine in 1993. The NCCU Art Museum in Durham showcased over fifty of her original works of art at the exhibit, Ruth Russell Williams: Master Storyteller, in 2009.
