PAINTING FAMOUS HAITIAN ART. Original Haitian art painting for collecting and home or office decoration. 1955 is well known and sought by collectors. Subject: Cotton picking harvest scene. (T) (Frame 25″ X 25″). Medium: Oil on Wood. Very good physical condition. 1955 studied painting at an early age under the instruction of Philome Obin. As a young painter, Edner chose scenes of country life and historical subjects that retrace the epic of the battle for independence of Haiti in 1804. Edner lives in Cap-Haitian where he paints scenes of cotton fields harvested by peasants. When asked, he admits that he doesn’t know where the idea to paint cotton fields came from. Cotton fields are found largely in Gonaives, a place he now visits frequently. He has been included in many international collections and is published in the following: “Kunst aus Haiti” by Ute Stebich, as well as the more recently published “Artistes in Haiti” by Michele Grandjean. Here is a beautiful folk art winter scene. Looks like New England scene rolling hills church with Steeple man walking with his dog! What more can you ask for? Has a close look to Grand Ma Moses. In my eyes its appears to be a watercolor but I’m not a expert in art and or paints. The piece is very large measures about 33 1/2″ X 25 1/2″. The signature reads Ortel Ontel or Omtel not sure and its not dated. Based on the framer’s label on the back its early 1960’s and or earlier. Its in very good condition the large Christmas trees in the front the paint is thick and shows some crackling see last photo. But real a good looking winter scene. The first name starts with a F but not 100% sure of the name because it is a bit hard to read, very light in some spots. The painting itself is in great vintage condition.
