We have a great piece of 19th century Amerian folk art in the form of an original oil on canvas portrait painting. Finely executed with clean details, left unsigned, the artist paints an older woman with her hair pulled back, small hoop earrings and a white collar on black shirt. Placed in an antique gold gilded frame, it measures approx. 27″ by 32″ with sight size of 21″ by 26-3/8″. Condition: Paint loss along the top of the canvas, overall craquelure, and there appears to be paint touch ups to her face.
