Vintage c1970s original folk art oil painting. Depicts a Revolutionary War themed scene complete with General George Washington leading the Colonial troops. Washington can be seen holding a sword while the soldiers hold rifles with bayonets. Behind the General a large 13 star American Flag can be seen waving in the wind with the date of 1776 above. Boasts a handsome red and yellow border complete with stars at each corner, an American Eagle at the top center and a cannon at the bottom center. Medium is oil on wood plyboard done in a Folk Art style. No signature that I can note. Reverse side painted back. Presumably done around the time of the bicentennial. Provenance comes from a southern New Hampshire area estate. In Excellent overall condition. Small knock to bottom left corner; small surface scuff to America flag (see photos). Will require picture wire and eye hooks before hanging. Eye catching and appealing. Measures 32″ x 11 7/8″.
