Early Aafa Antique Folk Art Wood Firkin Original Sage Green Paint Pantry Box

EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART WOOD FIRKIN ORIGINAL SAGE GREEN PAINT PANTRY BOX. Up for sale is this wonderful old firkin!! Some people call them sap buckets, pantry boxes, flour buckets or grain measures!! This one has a nice old sage / light olive green color to it!! It has what appears to be its original paint. This firkin measure is about 12. In diameter at the bottom and 10.5″ in diameter at the lid and 12″ high. This firkin is a nice size and is big in character!! The firkin has three bands around the bottom and two bands around the top of the firkin. The bands around the bottom are overlap bands and we don’t see any nails. There is one band around the lid also and it has small round nails that are dark. We don’t know if those are copper nails or metal, we’re not sure. Inside, it’s clean for its age and has some staining of green and purple as you can see. We’re not sure what that was about. The inside has a slight hickory or wood smell to it. On the outside is has some light fading, dry paint, edgewear, streaks, paint loss, paint chips, drips, nicks, staining. The paint on the wood knobs that hold the handle has alligatoring on it. The wood handle works nicely and the paint is mostly worn off. The lid rocks a little when on the firkin as the lid is just slightly warped but still fits nicely. The condition of this is exactly what you want to see in old true antiques! Please look at the photos for a more accurate description and detail and ask lots of questions if needed. Estate fresh wonderful antique folk art pottery wall pocket. Very old paint, small chip back of pocket, right bird has tail feather broken off, painted over, dribbles, splashes, old white, blue, paint, small split on left bird’s right chest. Piece is very delicate. Certainly not new so please take advantage of zoom or enlarge feature and study all photos thoroughly. Approx 9″ X 3 3/4″ deep X 9 tall. Antique Aafa Folk Art Early Checkerboard Original Paint Mustard Black White

ANTIQUE AAFA FOLK ART EARLY CHECKERBOARD ORIGINAL PAINT MUSTARD WHITE BLACK. Up for sale is this old hand painted checkerboard. It has a great folk art feel to it! The board is a wonderful mustard, black and white color. It has worn edges, paint loss and hand wear. The gaming part has black /white color alternating squares. The board is a 12 x 12 game field. It appears to be made from two large pieces of wood with bread board ends. The boards have separated pretty good and you can see the seam down the middle of the checkerboard. It has old rusty round nails around the outside of the board. It measures 26.25 L x 19.75 W and is about 1.25″ thick at the edges and 2″ thick at the thickest point. There is a little wire loop on the top of the back to hang the checkerboard on the wall. You can see this in the pictures. This side also has worn edges, scrapes and hand wear. This is a very nice game board!! As mentioned, theres some edge wear, paint loss, nicks, lots of scrapes, scratches and dings. The two boards that make up the checkerboard are a little warped as they kind of hump in the middle of each board and then that creates a valley where the two boards meet in the middle. You can’t really tell when just looking at the board but when you lay it down you can see it. We tried to take a picture of this for you. These issues are just as youd expect from and item of this age. Its still just fabulous!!! Its a very nice piece for your collection.
