THIS IS A AMAZING ANTIQUE/VINTAGE ORIGINAL FOLK ART PAINTING BY W. IT MEASURES 17″ WIDE BY 22 1/2″ HIGH. Walker was a black artist from Bullock County, Ala. In the Blues Old Stand area of Alabama. He died at the age of 93. Over the course of his life Walker painted more than 60 works of folk art, all in oil. A collection of 12 original works of folk art by the late Alabama painter W. Lovely antique American Folk Art portrait of a young woman with a widow’s peak. She is adorned with fleur de lis earrings and matching pendant. Oil painting is beautifully mounted on gilded gold wood frame. Painting is in great original condition with some craquelure commensurate with its age. No holes, rips or tears. Condition on front of painting is very good and clean, showing slight wear to the word ” Waiting “. The back of painting shows some wear, scratches, nicks and some glue marks (the wood may have had the glue marks before she started painting the painting) Front of painting does NOT have these and is again, in very good clean condition. OLD ANTIQUE Primitive Fine Folk Art OIL PAINTING of CHICAGO in 1832 artwork

Up for sale here is very interesting, antique, circa late 1890s to about 1915 framed oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist. The title of this painting is “Chicago 1832″ This fine oil painting is being offered in its original Arts and Crafts style antique solid wood black painted frame. The size of the oil painting only comes to 22 inches high by 36 inches across and with the frame 27 1/2 inches by 41 1/2 inches. There is no artist signature on the front or the back from what we can see. This painting was part of the collection that once belonged to the Evanston Historical Society located in Evanston, ILL the suburb directly attached to Chicago’s most North and East City limit. It was donated back to the Historical Society back in 1955 which you can see on the back but it does not have the Historical Societies name on it. This painting is going to require an extensive restoration and cleaning. This painting appears to have been stored in an attic in a very warm and dry environment. The entire surface of the painting has an even fine paint crackling. There is a three inch tear in the bottom center. The canvas is also worn and coming loose along the bottom edge of the painting where it meets the frame’s edge but it is not water damaged or stained. There is also a 1/2 inch tear in the canvas in the right center and another 1 1/2 inch tear near the largest tear pictured. There are a few fine paint scratches to the surface of which most would lighten up or disappear once the painting was cleaned and re-varnished. This is a wonderful piece of antique folk art.
