Antique 1855 Folk Art Painted Norwegian Immigrant Domed Top Trunk Travel Chest

Antique dome top Norwegian folk art painted travel chest or trunk measuring approx. 43″ long x 22″ wide x 21 tall, in total. It has 3 colors of paint – blue, red, black and green and bears a name on the front and the year 1855. It has sustained some moves over the course of its life, and so there are small pieces of wood missing on the corners of the lid and back panel, scratches, wear to paint, some shrinkage related cracks. Most of this shown or can be seen in the photos(need more just ask). One of the large domed top nails came out and is in the storage tray in case you want to add it back. Square nail construction, sturdy and heavy piece that clearly was made to survive a voyage. GREAT PAINT DECORATED TRAVEL TRUNK. About 24″ x 12″ x 10. Wonderful folk art polychrome sponge painted storage chest. Sponge painted bands with splashes and squiggles in mostly yellow and black on a rust red background. Lined with newspapers dated 1830. Some surface roughage commensurate with age and use. TERRIFIC PAINT DECORATED TRAVEL TRUNK. About 20 1/4″ x 10″ x 10. Beautiful paint decorated dome top travel / storage trunk. Hand painted double arched panels on the sides and front, with images of tulips and other flowers in a vase, surrounded by curling vine flourishes. Similar panels on the lid ends. Maroon painted background on the body, dark blue on the dome top. Brass butt hinges and brass painted iron lock hardware (no key). Light cream interior, matching the background of the panels. Some minor paint loss, particularly around the edges, commensurate with age and use. Age drying crack in the lid (all visible in the images). A FINE EXAMPLE OF A 19TH CENTURY FOLK ART PAINTED TRUNK. Vintage Wooden Patriotic Folk Art Painted Travel Electric Tattoo Case

Amazing painted wooden tattoo equipment case for travel or storage. The case is made of wood with an iron handle and fine early dovetail construction. Electric tattooing was invented in the late 1800’s, this case dates sometime in the early 1900’s. The case was found in Cincinnati, Ohio but we could not attribute it to any particular old time artist from that time. The eagle and lettering are wonderfully painted on the front with great detail and there is a painted “B” on one side. The eagle and the lettering painted on the case have a wonderful old surface and are in excellent condition with expected wear. It is 25 3/4″ long x 15 3/4″ wide and 9 1/4 deep. Like us on face book.
